Missing documents were received by the NVC September 28. Also, I was delayed in filing my Affidavit of Support since I was out of work from April 17th to August 3rd. This slowed the process up by two months for sure. Processing Estimates/Stats : Your I-130 was approved in 21 days from your NOA1 date. Your interview took 320 days from your I-130 NOA1 date.

Consulate Review: United Arab Emirates Review Topic: Other Experience Event Description Review Date : April 22, 2008 Embassy Review : Two points of Embassy staff not following procedure: RETURN OF ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS: Embassy practice does not conform with Department of State guidelines. The Department of State website for processing in Abu Dhabi the following: The applicant will receive the applicant’s original documents back at the time of the visa interview. These instructions are located on the following URL: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3196.html Consulate Officer put original documents in yellow envelope to be given to Customs Border Patrol at the Port of Entry. This envelope does not get returned to the applicant. Joint Sponsorship - Affidavit of Support Sponsors can use Social Security retirement benefits as income on their affidavit of support. Social Security retirement is NOT A MEANS TESTED BENEFIT. MEANS TESTED benefits are disability and welfare. Consulate Officer contested this fact and stated SS income is not allowed to be considered income. Rating : Poor
