Interview at the US embassy in Madrid was a quick and fairly simple process, in and out in 30 min. An officer first reviewed all my documents and I handed her over my medical exam, including the envelope with the X-ray, which I had picked up the day before at the clinic. Re medical exam, if you can I strongly recommend you get your vaccination story checked in Spain (already covered in the fee you have to pay in any case), as this will save you time and money when you file for AOS after marrying in the US - one of the supportive docs you need to file as part of the AOS application is evidence of compliance with the vaccination requirement. After waiting for about 5 min, a second officer carried out the interview - questions were straightforward: where and how I met my fiancé and when we got engaged and decided to apply for the k1 visa. Once the interview is over, they tell you whether your visa is approved or not. Allow approx one week for them to send you the visa. They send you a package which includes your passport with the stamped visa and a separate sealed envelope which you will have to give to the border officer upon entry in the US. Good luck to all of you who are going through this very lengthy process! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
