Embassy Review : |
I had an appointment today at 8:30. I was called up to the first officer receiving all the original documents to scan. Everything was there, except I didn’t have the financial evidence ( affidavit of support, taxes etc). I hadn’t brought that because it states on the travel.state.gov specifically “You do not have to bring your AOS package to the interview†on the instructions page. So I was very confused about that and started to doubt myself. In addition, the email from the embassy with the interview date included a direct link to the travel state.gov website where it states clearly that I did not have to bring the AOS package to the interview. It was frustrating that communication is not streamlined / clear because this could have all been avoided.
I then had to wait to be called up for the interview. Had to wait over an hour before it was my turn. Officer was friendly but also mentioned i should have brought the affidavit of support etc ( originals ). I showed her the website that had plenty of time looking up during my wait. She said she still needed the documents. I confirmed : So you are saying that the information on the US government immigration website is not correct? She answered: Yes.
So I have to send these documents in through the mailbox be reviewed.
Several of these original documents are in the USA as we have a joint sponsor. Of course if we knew we needed these at the interview we would have had our joint sponsor mail these to us months ago.
So, in conclusion: It wasn’t the best experience as several of the documents required to bring were not clearly mentioned in the instructions email from the embassy.
We hope this will all be resolved quickly - word to the wise: bring every original document + a copy to be safe. We hope others can learn from our experience. |

The date was given to us. We didn't schedule anything.
Hello! How many days did you wait from DQ to NVC passing your case along to Amsterdam? Hope you’re happy to share this information, it would be very helpful to know.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
