01/24/2023: Had the interview which went well, but they couldn't approve me, because I had not done my medical examination yet. I also had to send them a new document (brought the wrong divorce documents to the interview, needed a divorce "certificate" not divorce "decree").
01/31/2023: Shipped the required documents.
02/16/2023: Medical exam
03/03/2023: Still awaiting the approval... CEAC shows last update 03/01/2023, but no other changes, still "refused".
03/04/2023: Status changed to "Application received".
03/06/2023: Finally approved! CEAC updated this morning. I hope they will issue and ship the visa asap!
03/07/2023: Status changed to "Issued"!!!
03/10/2023: Passport with visa received! :) |

Overall a pretty good experience.
My appointment was at 1.30 pm. I arrived at 1 pm and was let in after they checked my appointment, which took about 10 min, because they didn't have the list with (k1) appointments for the day I think. Security was friendly. I had to leave my bag with security, I was not allowed to bring anything in other than the documents required for the interview. I had to take all my documents out of my folder too.
Then I had to wait at the first window for about 5 min, I was the only one in the room at that point. I gave them all the required documents, my passport and two passport photos. They also asked for a copy of my fiance's ID, which was not on their checklist, but fortunately I brought a copy (because someone else in the reviews here mentioned it).
After that was done I had to sit down and wait for the interview. At that point a few more people had arrived, but it was still not busy at all. After about 10 min my name was called. The interview was pretty simple, they asked a few basic questions like: Where did you meet online/in person? When did you meet online/in person? How many times have you visited each other? What is your fiance's job? When did he propose?"
Both consulate employees were friendly, but serious. At the end of the interview I was asked to supply an original divorce certificate, because what I had was not the right document. We had no idea there were different types of divorce documents.
So, other than the not super clear/complete checklist they provided, it was a pleasant and quick experience.

Timeline Comments: 8Hi, would you mind telling me whether or not you receive the visa yet? My fiancé had to mail in an additional document after the interview and we are wondering how long it takes to get the approval on the consular side.
Thanks.
I have not received it yet, but that's because the medical exam was scheduled for 3 weeks after the interview. My medical was a few days ago (Feb 16th), so hopefully I'll get my visa within the next 2 weeks or so.
When I sent in the requested documents it took about a week for them to get it and/or look at them. I sent them on a Tuesday and the next Tuesday was when our case was last updated (on CEAC).
Thanks for the response. Ours was birth certificate related document, it was hard to see the CEAC status as it shows refused......hopefully we both can obtain the visa ASAP. Fingers Crossed!
Cheers-
Yes, I hope so too! Please let me know when you guys get the visa, I'm curious to know how long it takes too. Good luck! :)
Hi, just want to give you an update on our visa that it was approved(CEAC now shows "Approved") last Friday which we only found out today. We are currently waiting for the passport to be delivered. So basically it took 3 working days to complete the process.
Oh that's awesome! Congrats! :) We're sadly still waiting for an update of any kind. Hoping we'll see something new on CEAC today or tomorrow if we are lucky.
Hi Nylahe,
Congratulations! Good to see you got approved :). Can i ask you a question about scheduling an interview date? Do you have to schedule a date on usvisa-info or do they give you a date through email or mail? We're still waiting for package 4. Can you tell me what kind of information we will get in package 4. Thank you :):)
Thank you! :) We had to schedule an appointment on the website yes. We scheduled it after getting P4. P4 has instructions on how to schedule the interview and the medical exam. It also has a checklist for all the documents you need to bring to the interview. Let me know if you have any more questions!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
