Consulate Review: Sweden
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : January 11, 2023
Embassy Review : Interview approved,
took 3h total of waiting time and interview. 1 h line outside the embassy, 2 h inside. A lot of questions; how did you first meet, how often do you see each other, have you ever got denied a visa/US entry before, when did you get engaged, were are you going to live, where does your fiance live, what does your American fiance work with, what do you intend to do when you get to the US, etc etc. Fingerprints taken and papers handed in, and showed original documents.
Positives: Nice staff, friendly, helpful.
Negatives: waiting time, and very crowded waiting room. Also mixed for all types of visa questions, and the student and work visas were interviewed right Infront of the other people sitting waiting. So no privacy when answering, everyone could hear and also hear of they got approved or not. The K- visas was in a private booth next to it though
Rating : Good

Waited almost 12 months now, still just says received on the case status.. :(

It's so ridiculous! The wait is almost unbearable but we gotta stay strong 💪🏾 It's gonna happen this year. This is our year 🙏🏿💪🏾
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-07-22 said:
Okey so they just bumped up the processing time to 13.5 months!! It was 10 months, then just when we thought it was our time, they bumped it up to 13 months And now they changed it again to 13.5 months on the USCIS homepage where you can check processing times per service centers .... The waiting is unbearable, and just when you think it's your time to finally get it, they again just move the date forward. So sad, it seems it's never going to happen 😥😟
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-07-22 said:
It says on here that our visa will probably be approved about latest September 4th According to the stats on Visa journey member information ℹ️ Which is 14 months waiting time, not 13.5..... To make people wait this long to be with their significant other... Have no words 😑😔

They are working on July cases now... 💪🏾 IT'S COMING YOUR WAY 🎉

Again! Now the journey begins again... More waiting 😂 Damnit 🤣
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-08-31 said:
@RamiZest do you mean waiting time for them to send the package to the NVC? I'm more worried about the medical exam and interview... And especially the entering into the US, heard that even if you get approved on the interview you can get denied to enter by the officer at the airport if they don't like your papers..
RamiZest on 2022-09-01 said:
@Hubba Yes all of that. I just want to get to the interview 😂😅 Don't worry about those things. There is always more to the story with those kind of cases where people get denied. You'd be amazed to know that kind of mistakes people make. Just be thorough and follow all instructions. I'm hoping that September is a month of pleasant surprises for us ❤️🙏🏿
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-11-01 said:
So we finally got an answer from NVC about our case status. But they just replied that they hadent gotten it yet from USCIS!! 😟 It's been 9 weeks since the NOA2 and it was approved.... Now its only 8 more weeks the petition is valid for before it runs out of time... So we are very sad and upset that the USCIS haven't sent it to NVC yet because NVC takes about 1 month to process to before sending it to the embassy.... So there will be no time left by the time they are done with it, no time left for me to do medical exam and interview at the embassy before it expires on Dec 31, 2022. We are so sad now that we might have to re- apply the whole fiance visa all over again and wait 14 more months to get it...
RamiZest on 2022-11-01 said:
Don't worry about the expiration. Because of the backlog everything is being extended. No one has had to reapply and many have passed their expiration date, that would be total chaos! It's out of our hands and in the process. All will be well just more awful waiting...
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-11-03 said:
Ok so we emails NVC and they said if we haven't heard from them maximum 6 weeks, to email another adress and also, and we have waited 9 weeks, so we emailed. Got reply yesterday that they have received it... Tried to put it on my Timeline here on VisaJourney but they woudl not let me, says error, could be too long time between it's been approved and we got noticed. So could not update. So now we pray 🙏 they will give us a case number quickly and the paperwork stating what documents we need to send in to the NVC so they can process our case etc. Anyone have any ideas on what they will ask for before approving it?
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-11-18 said:
Soon 3 months since petition was approved, still no sign of case number from NVC And our petition is only valid to december 31 2022. About to loose hope that we will get it in time, no chance at all to book interview etc if just a few weeks remaining on the petition, especially since everything is closed during Christmas and New years... Very sad.
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-11-18 said:
Just got it 😊
Danny & Brenda on 2022-12-02 said:
Any updates from NVC?
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-12-02 said:
Not heard anything about them sending it to our embassy yet... We did send an inquiry but no answer yet...:(
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-12-05 said:
Okey so we finally got an answer on our inquiry to NVC if they have sent out case to the embassy yet They hey told us that they haven't even started processing our case yet because of missing documents and missing payment..................... And that we have to submit form DS260 and affidavit of support I864. And send in to them........................ Which is if youre married we thought, because it's family based, even though we only have the fiance visa wich is not family based, it's a non immigrant....and was going to apply for the K-1 visa as soon as NVC shipped it to the embassy......... So confused now. And sad, because our original approved petition I129F is only valid for 3 more weeks now and they haven't even started processing our case yet at NVC.............. We haven't even gotten the welcome letters from NVC yet either even though it's been a long time. Any advice from anyone? Is it really the DS 260 we have to apply for not the DS160? And also we have to apply for that before they process the case and send it to the embassy? Also have to send in the affidavit of support for family member even though it's only a finace visa? We are so confused now. Thank you for any help

This is so confusing. I have no idea how people contact congressman but I'd advise yoh contact your congressman and explain that to him/her. They will definitely help.
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-12-06 said:
Thank you for the advice. Appreciate it.

Updates to your timeline you have NVC left letter now. Any more actions taken?
Hubba&Bubba on 2022-12-14 said:
Finally gotten a time for the interview. Payed and done the DS160, it still says "no status" on the CEAC though.... The embassy answered our email asking about the "no status" and said they didn't know what i ment andthat i have to fill it in and pay.. Even though I already have the confirmation page and all.. And they send me the wrong Alien number with the NOA from USCIS in 2021, and now we see the scanned copy of the original petition I-129F, which the officer at USCIS had approved and they have written 1 number diffrent only,, but make sense why they could not find our case etc .. Just worried now we have to re- do the DS160 since we used the number that was in the USCIS NOA2, not the one we got to know about today on from the embassy. Already payed the visa fee and booked the interview and done the DS160 with that first Alien number... So confused 🤔

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
