Sydney-bound soon, we hope! Got message, 12/19/2007 that documents were sent to Sydney 12/18/2007!! Hooray! Rec'vd letter from NVC Dec. 24 stating that case had been forwarded to Sydney on the 18th. Apparently they meant the electronic version, since the DHL shipment actually began its journey on Dec. 28, 2007. With any luck, it will arrive before the New Year. DHL tracking says it was signed for on 12/31/07.

Rec'd app't letter with instructions and interview date of 2/08/2008. Hooray!!!
Now just have to do medical and police certificate!

2/08/08: VISA APPROVED! Will be sent out Monday, Feb. 11, 2008. Happy Valentine's Day!!!!! Rc'vd visa on 02/11, day when they said they would send it out! Wow! Hubby thought he had misplaced passport, but embassy assured him by e-mail that it was in overnight mail packet. They have been very courteous and helpful!!

Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : 2/29/08 Hubby's point of entry was Honolulu (not listed here!), and after waiting in the wrong line for half an hour, was re-directed to the correct line, where the process took twenty minutes. He waited for me to arrive after that, and we ran to each other in slow motion in the airport...
Honeymoon was wonderful, and now we are finally in one place, enjoying the mundane aspects of a shared life. Nirvana!

Comments : We filed in early January, 2010 for removal of conditions (I-751). We received NOA on January 6, 2010. We received ASC Appointment notice on January 20, 2010 for Biometrics appointment in Boston (February 4, 2010). It is hard to believe that his interview in Sydney was almost two years ago to the day. Biometrics appointment took five minutes! Now we wait...

Received e-mail 3/30/2010 that Green card has been ordered and that it may take up to 30 days to get it!! Yay!!!
Citizenship is our last and final step next year.

Citizenship

CIS Office : Boston MA
Date Filed : 2011-06-28
NOA Date : 2011-06-30
Bio. Appt. : 2011-08-10
Interview Date : 2011-09-22
Approved : Yes
Oath Ceremony : 2011-10-26
Comments : For the first time in this entire process, we got an app. sent back with a request for missing info. My husband had been working separately on one page and we did not notice that we had not put it back (too excited to be coming to the conclusion of a long journey, I guess). They were expeditious and we got it back the same day we received their mail so we were only delayed by a week or so. We received the NOA immediately (what a difference from the Perm. Resident process, when we waited for two months--and that was relatively fast!). Now we are waiting to hear about Biometrics appt. and interview appt. Biometrics appt. sent on 7/15/2011. Date is 8/10/11. Hoping for a quick interview and oath ceremony!!
Biometrics appt. went very smoothly. Arrived at 8 a.m.; done by 8:30. On 8/12/2011, were informed on USCIS website that he had moved to the next stage: Test and Interview. This means that interview has been scheduled or has been put in queue to be scheduled. So far, the process has been far better than the visa process. Received update--now interview has definitely been scheduled and we will receive a letter within 14 days of Aug. 15 stating where and when interview will be. Hooray! I wish that we could do it during citizenship week to be part of history, but that looks unlikely.
Aug. 19, 2011: we received notification of final interview. Location is Lawrence MA, which surprised us, but we are thrilled to be at this point!!!

Sept. 22, 2011: Went to Lawrence for 8 a.m. appointment. Office was already open, and only about 20 people (total) were waiting. He was in by 8:05 and out by 8:40. The woman was very courteous, thorough and professional and recommended him for citizenship. We waited for notification of oath ceremony (they were providing papers with dates and information to fill out for the ceremony right then and there). October 26, Mechanics Hall, Worcester!! The atmosphere in Lawrence was so much fun--lots of clapping, hugging and tears as people came out with good news. The whole process will have taken less than four months--hooray! Overall, our journey will have taken four years and three months!!
Oath cremony took place and he got his certificate and papers for applying for a U.S. passport since they take away the Green Card. His passport came in a day! Hooray! Celebration planned soon!!

Event Description

Embassy Review : His appointment was at 8 a.m. By the time he got to the head of the line, it was 10 a.m. They checked documentation to see that it was perfectly in order (it was), and then the interview took perhaps five minutes. (Questions: How did you meet? When are you planning to go to the States? Where will you live?).
Visa will be sent out on Monday. Hooray!!!!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
