Comments : We waited an extremely long time for my husband's interview to be scheduled (was DQ'd in Nov 2020), and thought we were going to receive a notification that the documents had been sent to the embassy in Honduras, but we just received the email stating that the interview had been scheduled. We were notified on August 10th that the interview had been scheduled on September 10th, so we had to quickly make travel plans and get his medical exam scheduled (which was conducted on August 30th). The interview process only took about 20 minutes total. We got there about 45 minutes early and waited outside. Once my husband was called, the interview only took about 20 minutes total. He was asked a few questions, including how we met, whether he had ever been to the US, what his plans were when we move to the US, and whether we have any children. The officer then asked for a few documents (but he said he didn't want many) for proof of relationship, so my husband handed over a few photos and other documents. The official told him congratulations, his green card was approved, and let him know that we could expect to pick up the green card within a week. We are currently still waiting to pick up the green card and 12 days have passed.

Event Description

Embassy Review : The embassy has been very difficult to contact or receive any kind of answers or support from. However, the interview process was very seamless and quick. We showed up about 45 minutes prior to the interview and waited outside. We couldn't bring any devices with us, and I was not allowed to attend the interview with my husband. Once he was called in, he was out in about 20 minutes.

Hi Sarah! I was looking at your timeline and saw that you received an interview date! congratulations on finally getting an interview, sending the best of luck to you! Did you expedite your case at the NVC?

Hi there, @stephanyord! Yes, we finally received notice that our interview had been scheduled on August 10th. The interview was scheduled for September 10th. We did not submit an expedite request, although we were strongly considering doing so, so we were pleasantly suprised to receive notice of the interview being scheduled. We also thought that we were going to be notified that our documents had been sent to the embassy in Honduras before receiving the interview date, which we did not. We just woke up one morning to an email saying the interview had been scheduled. We were informed that the US is working on giving out 100,000 green cards before the end of the fiscal year (which is by the end of September) or else they will go to waste, so I believe for embassies that are open, they are trying to schedule as many interviews as they can! Best of luck to you as well.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
