Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 15, 2008
Embassy Review : We arrived to the embassy 30 minutes early, it was scheduled to be at 7:45am. The line was in the back for the K1 visa, it was the smaller line (be careful waiting in line there were a lot of birds flying above us and my fiance got hit along with 2 other people in line). Then someone from the embassy came outside to check-in everyone that was in line. We got inside the embassy at around 8:10am and went upstairs to a room with a lot of other applicants where they called people up by name to check your paper work. Then it was a one or two hours before we had the interview.

The actual interview was only about 5 to 10 minutes long. They asked my fiance where she worked in the US ( she had an H2B visa before). Then they asked me how we met and where I live. Then they looked over the affidavit of support document very quickly, barely even looked at them. They just look at the first page of the Tax returns ( I had my parents cosponsor because I didn't make enough money last year but there was no problem).
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
