Comments : The officer was extremely pleasant and friendly. We made some small talk as she was going through my information. Everything was done at the visa counter and I did not have to go to a different room or section. Overall, I don't think I could have asked for a more pleasant arrival than what I got. 10/10

Embassy Review : I had my interview scheduled for 08:30, but the actual interview time was about 30 minutes off. Overall, the service was great, and both the Thai lady who checked my documents and the CO were extremely welcoming and friendly. The CO asked me a few basic questions such as how my wife and I met, and where we plan to live.
Rating : Very Good

Hello folks, may I take a just a little bit of your time? I just found this website within the last day and then happened on your profile as I'm petitioning for my wife from South Africa on an IR-1/CR-1 visa as well and your profile is very similar. So I see you are about to have your interview very soon so congratulations on that and I wish you all the very best!!!! I had a question and I think maybe you could help us best since your case is so recent and the same visa type and country, and I assume the same Johannesburg embassy as well.... So my wife was just documentarily qualified by NVC this week on January 29th. We got the email that all our documents are approved by NVC and they are working with the embassy to set up an interview date. So does that mean the case has officially been sent to the embassy or is it just completed by NVC? So based off your own experience when should we expect to get the email that says our scheduled interview date? Would that likely be within a week or a month or what? Another question is that it seems you were documentarily qualified in December and then will have the interview within 2 months of that. Is that accurate? If so that is encouraging for us, cause if it is the same Johannesburg embassy that we would be going to then I guess we should expect about the same timelines for things. Anyways sorry for the long post I just had a lot of questions and it seems you could provide some of the best answers based off your experience with a very similar timeline and it being so recent like ours. I am just trying to get an idea of how long the cuurrent wait time is to get an interview at the Johannesburg embassy. If you could please get back to me with answers to any or all of these questions I would very much appreciate it. Thank you!

Hello. So my case is moving through the Bangkok embassy as that is where I live. I am South African, and originally thought of completing my case there, but due to how long the I130 took, I had to return to my old job in Bangkok while waiting. I'm not sure how long it will take you to get the interview date from JNB, but I can tell you it took me about three weeks of waiting after being DQ'd by the NVC. After being DQ'd at the NVC, they contact your embassy to schedule the appointment. Based on available slots and how long the queue is, the NVC will email you once they have sent your case to the relevant embassy. This can take a while and is dependent on the embassy you are going to. You might want to look for relevant posts in the following sub https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/89-africa-sub-saharan/

Oh ok thank you for the information, and taking time out to answer, my bad I think your profile did pop up with the South Africa profiles when I searched, and it must have been cause that is your original country. Sorry I should have checked your profile even more carefully. However you still gave me good and valuable information as far as maybe how many weeks I can expect from now till we get that interview letter for my wife. So thank you for that and thank you as well for the link to see relevant information that could help me, I will check it out. Thanks for taking time to answer me and I once again wish you all the best at your interview and the rest of your Visa process!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
