Embassy Review : |
I got there an hour before my appointment, it was reasonably cold but nothing unbearable, everybody on the way in was really friendly and cheerful even though it was a dreary morning. So I stood inline waiting to be called, the 8:30 & 9:00 appointments were ahead of me but once the there was no one waiting for the 9:00 slot they let the 9:30's through, I was quite happy about this as I was first in line and ended up getting in ( and out of the cold and drizzle) about 10 minutes early. They ask you to take your belt off and place you phone, iPod or any electrical items into a clear plastic bag and put anything metal into your own bag, they take your bag and coat and put it through an x-ray machine like at the airport, and you walk through a metal detector, no problems for me just gave me a tag so I could collect my phone and iPod on my way out.
You walk to your right round to the visa entrance, there sits a friendly receptionist who has look at your letter and gives you two stickers with a number on them (it will be a number in the 5000s ) then up the short flight of steps to your left and into the waiting area, this is where your interview will take place, there are large TV's announcing which applicant has to go to which booth, and 25 booth's where you will be called to, I sat down and waited about 20-30 minutes before I got called to booth 14, when I got to the booth there was no one there, which I thought odd at the time but it didn't take long for a very nice gentleman to come over, he asked to see my appointment letter and my passport, he checked them over and then asked to see the other checklist documents, police certificate etc, I presented them all, he took finger prints and asked me to sign one of the forms I had sent in previously, he then asked me to go round to counter 12 to make a payment, once I returned and gave the receipt of payment over I was handed my x-ray and a pink document which I was told to fill out as I would need this to get the visa couriered. I went and sat down filled out the pink form and waited for my number to be called out again to go through the actual interview.
I waited for about 15-20 minutes before I got called to booth 15, ready for an inquisition and armed with just about everything I could think of to prove our relationship, I went round, I was greeted by a friendly american gentleman, he asked me to sign one of the forms that I had sent to them, took more fingerrpints and asked my how we had met, he then told me that my case had been approved and to expect to receive the visa in 5 working days, he wasn't interested in all the evidence I had compiled at all, but I was still happy that I had it with me as you never know.
I walked round and paid for the courier service I chose to have mine delivered before 8:00 am which cost £35 but will be worth it, I walked out of the embassy and back round to the security check point to collect my things, all in all it took about 2 hours 45 minutes including getting there an hour before my interview time and standing in the cold and drizzle, everyone there is friendly helpful and nice, really good experience not nearly as bad as you think it's going to be. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
