Event Description
Review Date : July 17, 2023
Embassy Review : Overall positive.

We arrived early with everything prepared.

There was some confusion as we were NOT allowed to carry inside a bag and purse. My spouse had to carry all of the documents by hand and she was not allowed an umbrella even though it was raining and she was using her purse to carry documents which was also denied as per VFS "protocol."

Although a lot of applicants entering the embassy in the next time slot were allowed an umbrella and purse so maybe somebody in the morning processing was unaware of the rules.

The petitioner (US Citizen) was denied entry into the embassy. Another applicant was trying to enter with their spouse and child of maybe 3 years and were also told that petitioner can not enter despite being US citizen. Further a petitioner (US citizen) was denied entry with his father (very elderly).

So apparently from what I understood, the beneficiary may be accompanied by the petitioner if the beneficiary is a child and/or physically challenged. Even still if the gate VFS staff deny entry, they have to mention inside to "senior" staff member immediately at the first gate who will then give a gate pass for petitioner to enter embassy with beneficiary if they deem it to be appropriate.

With the heavy rains during our interview we were appalled that umbrella and purse were denied for no apparent reason as later on applicants were allowed to enter with such items.
Rating : Moderate

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
