Hello. I am in a similar situation to you. I expect to get my NOA2 soon (Russian fiance) and K1 processed through California service. However, as the US Embassy servicing Russians is in Warsaw Poland, and Poland is not issuing Schengen visas to Russian citizens, what is your plan to go to another embassy? Thank you.

Hi. We are waiting for our NVC case number and transfer of our documents to the Warsaw consulate. When we will know that our case arrived in Warsaw we will apply for a Schengen visa because it requires you to apply for specific dates. The easiest countries right now are Spain and Italy but they are also the most expensive. We will try to get a Schengen to a country that is closer to Poland to save on transportation, so we are looking at Germany, Austria, Hungary. But I don't know how easy it will be to get a visa to these countries. It's all up to when we will receive the instructions from the consulate. Our initial interview date is in December. Hopefully our case will get there by that time.

Thank you. I understand and that makes sense. I think we will be in this exact same predicament. I was hoping to get a Schengen Visa multi entry for as long as available, like 5 years for example and do that process now. You mentioned that you need to know the dates of travel for the Visa?
To_the_moon on 2022-08-09 said:
The chances to get a 5 year multi visa are higher for those who already had Schengen before. My fiancé has never been to Europe and has never applied for a Schengen visa before. For people like him, it is more likely that they would only give him like 10 day or 1 month visa, or only for the days he will have his hotel booked for, even if it will be 5 days. We will definitely apply for a longer period but I was informed that it is all up to a consulate and that it is better to know your exact dates so that your visa does not expire before you will even fly to Europe.

Understand and makes sense and good luck. I'm sure we will be communicating about this down the road

I just realized that your NOA1 date is almost a year ahead of ours. SO I wouldn't start anything in regards to the interview and Schengen visa right now. It's too early and it will be a waste of time and money. Our situation is similar but timelines are different. And different timelines could result in different situations. You will have enough time to gather all information AFTER you get your NOA2. The requirements for the interview could be different by that time. So everything I shared before will most likely be irrelevant.

I sent them an email asking for an expedite and received a response that they've just received our case. But I don't have a case number yet.

To_the_moon on 2022-09-04 said:
Yes, it was emailed to me(petitioner) on Tuesday saying it is in transit to Warsaw. On the next day, it was "Ready" at the consulate.
I will keep you guys updated on how everything goes.

How did you get the interview appointment so soon? Our interview options were at the earliest until March since he is not a resident of Poland
To_the_moon on 2022-09-12 said:
We scheduled our appointment in July when our case was sent to NVC. At that time the earliest dates were in February, after a couple of weeks the consulate added additional appointment times in December and January, so we were able to reschedule.
How are you planning to get into Poland?
Champole on 2022-09-12 said:
My understanding that Poland and some of these other Baltic countries have imposed restrictions that prevent land border crossing from Russia into a Baltic country, including Poland, but I don't think that restriction applies if flying into Warsaw with a Schengen visa. Is anyone clear about this issue?

To everyone who has been following our timeline, we have transferred our case to Jerusalem, Israel to avoid potential problems in Warsaw.
Champole on 2022-09-15 said:
Thank you for the update. What was the process of the transfer and how long did it take you to process that change?
Champole on 2022-12-05 said:
Thank you for the update. It looks like between the interview date and getting the Visa took about a month. Is that right?
To_the_moon on 2022-12-05 said:
Yes. Please read my post here.

Thank you. I read it. Another member on the Forum stayed for 2 weeks before getting the Visa and passport. It's great that the Jerusalem Embassy accepts transfers, but I wish the post interview process was more efficient and clear. It's hard for people to take off of work indefinitely

Question about covid vaccine. It is difficult for Russian citizens to get an approved covid vaccine to enter the US. How was your fiance able to get one? Thank you.

He got Pfizer in Turkey.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
