Comments : There was a long line for immigration/customs for foreigners. They made me wait. Once I arrived at the counter, he asked me if I knew what my address would be where I would be living. He told me I had 90 days to get married and then asked me if I had tobacco, alcohol or food with me. He then stamped my passport and let me go.

Consulate Review: Madrid, Spain
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : April 1, 2022
Embassy Review : My appointment was at 11:30 am, so I arrived 15 minutes early. I walked in without any issues and everyone was very nice and helpful. The only issue was that I couldn't go inside with my backpack, so I had to find a locker nearby to keep it during my appointment. The whole process took around an hour and a half including going through security, taking a number, giving all required documents, and waiting to be called. The actual interview process took around 5-10 minutes including an oath to tell the truth plus a few questions. At the end, the interviewer told me that it would take 1-2 weeks to process the visa.
1) How did you meet? Describe your love story.
2) Have you met the future in-laws? Do you get along with them?
3) When did we leave Germany? (this is where we met)
4) Where in the US will you guys be living?
5) What type of work will you expect to have in the US?
Overall it was a very positive experience - the only downside was the waiting time before the interview.
Rating : Very Good

Hi! How long after did it say ready when you received packet 3? It says ready for us 8 days and we haven't gotten anything in the mail yet in Spain. Did you wait until you got packet 3 before you did the medical and schedule interview or did you do it when it says ready? What is in packet 3?
Amanda&David on 2022-08-03 said:
Hi Lauren! After the consulate received our information, it said ready on Feb 7, and we received P3 on Feb 8 by email. Yes, you must wait until they receive your documents that they request from P3 before you are able to schedule your interview. When scheduling your medical, they will ask you to provide your interview date so you must have that beforehand. P3 is a request of general documents from the beneficiary including the DS-160, a copy of your passport, birth certificate, divorce/death certificates, police records, evidence of financial support from the petitioner, a photograph, and some other documents that may or may not apply to you. They should send it to you via email.

Hi Amanda and David! I was reviewing your timeline and saw you requested expedite for AP based on humanitarian reasons. I have a family member that is quite sick so was wondering what kind of evidence you submitted. Also, I thought that under these circumstances the AP document was given the same day but maybe that is a different process (emergency versus expedite ). Thanks for your help!
Amanda&David on 2023-05-11 said:
Hi Adam and Macy! I’m sorry to hear about your sick family member. Yes, we also submitted evidence based on a sick family member. We submitted his medical records from the hospital, a recent letter from a doctor explaining his current condition, birth certificates proving the familial relationship, and a statement to USCIS of why we were requesting the expedite. We also included translations with all documents not in English. We requested a normal expedite, not emergency AP so that’s the reason why we didn’t get it the same day. We also requested assistance from our local congressman which we think really helped speed up the process. I hope this helps and wish you guys the best!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
