Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 16, 2021
Embassy Review : It went well! Lots of waiting but pretty smooth and straightforward. Just make sure you bring everything because you never know what they'll want from you. It's not as formal as I thought it'll be. The interview is through a window and it's not a sit down interrogation type of interview...it's more like you're applying for a driver's licence. aha.

Thank you! Luckily I wrote it out so had it easy to copy and paste here. It started with security. They asked me covid questions, to put on hand sanitizer, asked me to take off my blazer and put everything in the bin along with my phone and papers. Put my phone away in a locker and took the key with me. When I got to the embassy floor, i waited 15 mins, they flashed my number to go to the assigned window, I gave them the papers they wanted which was intent to marry, rcmp, email document, original and photocopy of my birth certificate, affidavit papers, my passport copy and 2 passport photos. Had to give my fingerprints. Gave me a pamphlet to read about domestic violence. They told me to sit down again. Waited another 15 mins or so before they called me again. He greeted me and I had to give an oath. I sealed my declaration by him scanning my fingerprints again. He asked me the following questions (not the right order): - What’s my full name? - When was I born? - What’s my fiancé’s full name? - How did I meet him? - Where does he live? - Where does he work and what does he do? - Who else does he live with beside his parents? - Interviewer gave me back the original birth certificate. Asked me if I lived anywhere besides Canada. - How many times did I see him since we met? After, he took two papers and gave it to me: pink Welcome to America paper, and “has your visa been approved?” paper. Approved!

HI there, so you did the interview in april 2021? How were your medical exams submitted to the embassy in montreal? By email or did you hand deliver them? We did our interview five days after yours and we are still waiting for our visa back. The case status says refused, and they have told me multiple times they are waiting on medical records, which have been submitted to them twice.

The doctor sent the results to the embassy directly. I did mine 2.5 weeks before my interview and they received it in time. Also, where did you get it done? And did you confirm with your doctor that they sent it?

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
