Embassy Review : |
Mostly super straightforward, just make sure you've got everything printed you're told to bring (including DS-160 confirmation page and the email showing you paid for the appointment/courier) and you'll be fine. Arrived at 9:20am for a 10am interview, documents were checked outside in a long queue and was through security by roughly 9:55am. Then had to queue for a decent period at the front reception as they weren't ready for 10am slots yet, finally got my number for the process and went upstairs around 10:30am. Saw the first person almost immediately and handed over my documents (birth cert/ACRO/passport/affidavit of support/financial proof) at the desk and gave my fingerprints. Sat back down and waited roughly 35 minutes to go to the actual 'interview'. Interview lasted roughly 5 minutes, was asked a few questions (where did you guys meet, how long have you been dating, what does your fiancé do), gave my fingerprints again and visa was approved. Was out the door by around 11:30, so whole process including queueing was around 2 hours, but time spent actually doing something was less than 5 minutes. Easy and straightforward, just go prepared and you'll be fine! |

Timeline Comments: 6Did you receive a letter in the mail or an email from NVC?Also how many days did it take for NVC to receive your application from USCIS?
@RamiZest hi, we received an email from NVC once it was in transit to the embassy, but nothing to notify it being received by NVC. So i'm not sure on how long it took to actually get there, but from NOA2 to In Transit it was roughly 8 weeks.
Wow. Thats not bad at all. Thanks for getting back to me. I wish you both the best. Also, when did you complete the DS-160?
@RamiZest no problem! Filled out the DS-160 once we'd received the In Transit notification, but started gathering the stuff for the i-134/financial support (pay slips, tax returns, employers letter etc) as soon as we received NOA2.
Okay I pretty much got all the things for the financial support. This is what I will need: doesn't seem like much...
Evidence of U.S. citizenship or immigration status
Federal income tax return or IRS tax transcript from the most recent tax year
Evidence of current income such as paystubs and an employment verification letter
Evidence of asset ownership and value (if applicable)
Wow, at this same time I am messaging you, I just received an email from NVC ðŸ™ðŸ¿ðŸ™ðŸ¿ðŸ™ðŸ¿ðŸ™ðŸ¿ðŸ™ðŸ¿ðŸ™ðŸ¿ðŸ˜‚
The National Visa Center (NVC) recently received your immigrant visa petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Your petition is now waiting for data entry into our systems.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
