Consulate Review: Naples, Italy
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 25, 2020
Embassy Review : Had a very nice experience at the American Consulate in Naples. People are very nice and friendly! And trust me, I already had some bad experiences at the American Consulate in Brazil, that's why I'm saying this here - they are super nice in Naples!
I went to the medical exame the day before - got there at 07:15am and left at 10:30am. It takes some time so you need to be very patient!
The next day my appointment was schedule at 10am but I showed up at 9:15am and the security let me in.
I think the worse thing is the waiting but besides that everything went well!
I was out of the Consulate at 11am!
Visa approved!! Super happy!!!
Don't be nervous, the officers are super nice and you can speak in Italian if you prefer.
Just have all the documents ready and tell the truth ALWAYS!

Good luck everyone!
Rating : Very Good

Hi -- has your interview been cancelled, given the restrictions in Italy currently? If not, how to you plan on travelling to Naples?

Hi, no my interview hasn’t been cancelled. So far all good! I’m going to Naples by train. I’m going to bring all the documents + the interview letter + “autocertificazione” and a letter from my lawyer. Hope they will let me go!

Thanks for letting me know! I hope that all goes well for you. I wrote because last week, the US Embassy & Consulates posted this update: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-it/niv/information/announcements#619-operational_status_of_visa_services_20201109140452. Perhaps they simply aren't scheduling new interviews.

Yes, I saw this too and I got a little bit worried but I didn’t get any email or letter about canceling the appointment so I’m hoping everything is ok. I also called the medical exam place and they said they are working normal. So fingers crossed🤞🤞

Interview was approved! So happy!!!

Congrats on your approval!! Out of curiosity, how are you having your passport returned to you? There are some old reviews on this site that indicate that it's possible to pick up your passport at the consulate a day or two after the interview; I'm not sure if that's still an option.

I chose the DHL option and my passport was delivered yesterday evening! It took only one day, super fast! So after you get the appointment letter you have to register for the interview and it’s gonna give you the option of picking it up at some DHL locations or pay for DHL have it deliver at your house. Honestly I don’t remember seeing the option of picking it up at the Consulate🤷🏼‍♀️

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
