Interview was alright but they did ask not once but twice if this was the first marriage for both. Compared to the B2 visa interviewer who was rude and did not bother to go through my documents last time. Highly recommend visiting them with just your phone and two clear bags with documentation on everything. Take the exact amount of cash with you for the visa fee and a physical print out of the DS 160. Follow the instructions they give you. Don't be thick.
Go early because there's a long line, every single time.
All the best! |

Embassy Review : |
Praise the Lord 🙌 The interview went smoothly with the officer at the center. My husband was seated beside me and our lawyer was behind us. There was no separation as such. After asking us to give our oaths, the only questions he asked were below:
1 - He asked to see both of our original birth certificates and passports
2 - He asked for my full name. I had to mention I changed my surname to fit in my husband's surname
3 - His full name
4 - He asked for the full names for my parents and my husband for his
5 - If this was our first marriage
6 - He asked how me met and to describe our relationship
7 - Then the usual immigration questions such as if I am a spy, if I am affiliated with any organizations etc and I answered no to everything
He said he won't approve on the same day but it will take some time.
My advice before going for the interview is, wear socks and shoes that you can easily slip out of (like when plane travel attire), dress nicely and wear masks obviously. Be very elaborate in your responses and be polite as much as possible. Attitude matters. It doesn't matter what kind of officer you get, be patient and relax. The center didn't ask for our vaccine cards and neither did the officer but please take them with you in paper form or via the digital pass on your phone.
We took a lot of documents in clear folders with tax forms, photos etc but he didn't ask for any of them. I guess it depends on what kind of office/officer you get but it's best to be prepared. Since, I got my green card approved, I don't require the EAD or AP and those applications will be moot (I am guessing). Your mileage may vary. I called the USCIS hotline to find out when my interview date was, since the interview receipt notice was late and even the lady on the hotline, it's crazy and lucky how soon I got my GC interview date since, most people have to wait for much longer as much as 12-14 months due to Covid delays. Once again, I owe this blessing and opportunity to God and I am fortunate to get it this soon. |

Timeline Comments: 4Hi is the embassy doing interviews ?
Hi Di & Si, they conduct interviews once lockdown/travel restrictions are lifted. My interview got postponed twice due to this earlier. It usually helps when the petitioner (US Citizen) emails the embassy asking when they will have the interview next.
Wow! Quick turnaround to interview. We are waiting for interview currently. We applied 3 weeks after you! When did you get notified a interview was scheduled? Congrats!
Hi Alexandraryan1234, thank you so much! I use an app named Case App Tracker on iOS (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/case-tracker-for-uscis/id921827126) that notified me before the official USCIS site that I have an interview scheduled and believe me, all thanks to God, I received an interview this fast.
Even the USCIS hotline was amazed that it was this fast since a lot of people wait for months. My advice is, have faith, be patient and God will deliver. All the best!
P.S. We are based in Los Gatos too ;)
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
