Hi. Our consulate is Barbados also. I noticed the NVC has recently approved your case file. After your interview please comment on your experience with this consulate.

The interview process was pretty good, wasn’t a long process. Once on time and you take all documents with you it makes the process smoother. Standard questions are asked where/when you got married, if spouse was ever married before, who was at the wedding, how many kids your spouse has, where is you spouse located

That’s really encouraging! We would’ve been close to yours because we were reviewed on Feb 2, but we had a document rejected. So we are waiting for another review.
But it’s encouraging to hear your experience, that is was pretty easy.

Also, did your spouse go with you?
DKL on 2022-03-19 said:
No, but unless they specify your spouse doesn’t have to go. After NVC approved the interview date was given exactly 3 weeks and the interview date was 2 weeks after it was given. Initially I had to submit other documents to NVC, they first reviewed November 4th and then had to go to the back on the line again. But was approved February. Nvc’s timeline is pretty accurate.

Question, since your interview was a few weeks after you got your date, was it easy to get a medical in time for the interview?
DKL on 2022-04-04 said:
Yes, once I got my interview date I had to call to make the appointment for the medical. I don’t think there is a limit on the number of people who come on a given day, I just called and the receptionist asked the date of the interview and she told me the best day to come. They upload the medical information to the embassy so no need to go back to collect it. They were people at the medical appointment who had their interviews scheduled for 2 days later.

That’s great! It sounds pretty straightforward

Hi there! When did you pick up your visa? After the interview, when was it ready?
DKL on 2022-04-15 said:
After the interview I had to take it to DHL to take it back to the embassy and the embassy sent it back via DHL. Since I’m in Barbados it took about a week. If outside of Barbados it will be longer.
EmTi on 2022-04-15 said:
Oh! Okay they asked you to take you passport to DHL? And then DHL sent it to them, they stamped it and sent back via DHL? That’s different from others I’ve read!!
We will be in Barbados so the timing shouldn’t be much different than yours. We’re getting close so I’m getting hopeful!

That’s the procedure now. I went to DHL the next day and sent it off to them which was a Tuesday. I got it back the next Tuesday. Others I know who were just here for the interview left with their passports as well and sent them back here to the embassy. They received theirs in about 3 weeks.

Hi. My husband is about to do his medical, and OMG - it’s $700 USD!?
DKL on 2022-05-04 said:
My medical wasn’t that much. It depends how. What they want you to do and any missing vaccines
DKL on 2022-05-04 said:
The price is also quoted in Barbados dollars
EmTi on 2022-05-04 said:
It’s weird because they quoted $1400 BBD and $700 USD. And my husband doesn’t need many vaccines, maybe 1. So it’s strange. We can pay it but I’m like some families would struggle with that probably.
EmTi on 2022-05-04 said:
So I looks like they added everything, all vaccines plus the basic to quote just in case everything will be needed.
Thanks again.
DKL on 2022-05-04 said:
I think they gave that quote to be on the safe side but there is a website you can check to see what vaccines are needed. I didnt even pay 700 bds for mine. I didnt have to get any vaccines just xray, blood test etc.
DKL on 2022-05-04 said:
They give you the amount at the end if the visit. You are encouraged to walk with extra cash just in case you need everything done

Thank you for your input. My husband was refused and put into AP after his May interview. But we were notified Friday to send his passport via DHL. He sent it. So we are just waiting on the visa now. The waiting is tough.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
