Event Description
Review Date : August 1, 2008
Embassy Review : Arrived at the embassy at 6:40. Was directed to line 3 given a green sticker with 40 on it. Inside the gate by 7 am and went to a podium set up with the number 40. They have you take a seat and within 20 min or so made our way through the line to recieve the green folder with directions. Since the NVC had already collected the majority of the papers there were only 3 items the passport, medical paperwork and 2 photos. At 10 AM was called to one of five windows where all documents were reviewed and quite a few given back to us ie; sent 3 yrs of tax returns they kept the last and returned the rest. The lady was not pleasent however neither am I so it well. She asked a couple of questions of my wife..my phone number, why was I so serious looking and if she knew I had been married before. Afterwards we were directed to windows 1 through 5. Waited until 2pm for the interview. Lady asked my wife 3 or 4 questions asked for proof of relationship which we had plenty of but a quick look at a folder of e-mails and some pictures we were done with that, then she asked to talk to me. Thanked me for showing up, asked about whether I have sponsored or helped anyone adjust status in the U.S., when we met, how we met, asked me to look at her "it makes it easier for us" as she interrogated me (oops interviewed me) . Maybe a few other really insignificant questions but no more that 7 or 8. She relayed that one document was insuffcient and where to retrieve the proper one and gave us a paper on setting another appointment. The next appointment was within 3 days. Went to the embassy same ordeal only when it came to the green folders we said we didn't need it we were only returning with missing documents. We were sent to the front of the line, seen by another sunny personality (not really) she took the documents sent us to the interview window. An hour later called up went over the papers and sent us on our way approved. Advice

Show up earlier they take groups and yes they try to get those older and with children first but while your sorting your paperwork those there first are getting called to the window.

GO TO YOU SIGNIFICANT OTHERS INTERVIEW!!!!! It is the most important thing you can do and as the interviewer said to me "it makes it much easier for us to tell if you actually have a relationship".

Be thorough with you paperwork and bring more than you need along with extra copies of everything you have already sent to the NVC.

Don't be nervous, you have nothing to hide and they have job to do.....believe it or not there are people who will marry you just so they can get in to the U.S.

This is just from an observation I had while at the embassy...If your 50 and look like hell and she's 20 and hot do yourself a favor GO GET A MAKEOVER! It may mean the difference between approved or not. They were not approved that day

I rated the embassy a 4 because it could be better. 90% good experience.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
