Member Reviews:

Consulate Review: Ghana
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 15, 2021
Embassy Review : Overall, a pleasant experience. Everyone was nice and friendly, but the interview was still very thorough.

The initial lady collected the following documents:
- My passport
- Passport pictures
- Police reports

The interview lasted about 30 mins despite the fact I was asked many questions.
I kept my answers short and clarified just a couple of points to the CO.

Interview question:

1. How did you meet your husband?
2. How did your relationship progress from there?
3. How much older is your husband than you?
(A lot questions surrounded my husband because of the age gap between us.)
4. When did you say you met?
5. So you have known your husband for 8 years and married for the last 2 years. How come it took you both that long to get married?
6. Can I see your wedding pictures?
7. How many people were at each of your traditional and white weddings?
8. Do you have any other pictures of your relationship? (Yes)
9. Can I see all of the pictures you have?
(I had about 200 pictures in collages - she went through every picture while she kept asking more questions)
10. I see you have travelled outside Ghana. What countries?
11. Have you lived abroad and if so for how long?
12. Have you ever been arrested before?
13. Where is your husband now? (He dropped me off for the interview?)
14. When did he come back to Ghana? (He hasn't left since we got married in 2019).
15, How come?
16. When does he plan to return to the US?
17. Where does your husband live in the US.
18. Does he have property in the US?
19. Do you know that your husband recently retired? (Yes).
20. Can I see his financial records?
(Submitted copy of I-864 and his updated 202 bank and investment statements - he used assets as additional financial backing)?
21, How many children do you and your husband have together? (She asked for their birth certs)
22. Did your children have any DNA testing done for their CRBA? (No. None was requested.)

Then came the magic word:

"Congratulations!" - I can't find a reason to deny you. I wish you and your husband all the best in the US"

She kept my passport and handed me a Domestic Violence document to read and instructions to collect my passport.

Documents she did not ask for but that I carried along:
1. Tax transcript (but she did look through my husbands I-864).
2. My husbands divorce papers.
3. My husband's citizenship papers and passports.
4. Call logs, whatsapp messages, Travel logs.
Rating : Very Good

Please did you expedite?
LBX on 2021-01-18 said:
My expedite 2 months ago was denied. I just applied again last week. I don't understand why routine interviews at the Embassy have been put on hold despite our low COVID rates. Hopefully things will change with the Biden administration.

Thanks for your response.Your process has been very fast. I am sure it was not denied or just the mail say so but is working. Once it has gone through completed stage the next is just interview. I have been waiting for my to go through completion after documentarily qualified since may 29th and it is still counting. You have no problem to worry about so let us keep on praying.
LBX on 2021-01-18 said:
Amen. You are correct. We just have to be patient.

Please how did you expedite
LBX on 2021-02-04 said:
I sent a request to the NVC. You must also have a good reason to request the expedite. Mine was based on medical reasons. You can file for the expedite using either: ①  online at: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html ② by sending email to: nvcexpedite@state.gov If you want to send an email I suggest you still look at the online form and ensure that all the information marked by asterisks is included in your email application for expedite.

Ok please how long did it take for them to give you feedback after mailing them to expedite ur case
LBX on 2021-02-04 said:
After I filed, it took NVC about 7 working days to get back to me that they had reviewed my request and will be sending it to the Embassy for further review. It took the Embassy about 5 working days to get back to me.

Actually my husband applied and they replied me.

Congratulations! I was DQ'd in August 2020...no feedback from enquiries sent to the embassy on interview timelines...hopefully we are scheduled soon.
LBX on 2021-03-15 said:
@LnTQ. Thanks. We expedited so that's how we got an early interview date. Currently, without an expedite, it is taking about12 months from DQ to interview.for Ghana.
blank avatar Pigo on 2021-03-16 said:
Please about 200 pictures collages. Was it in soft copy or hard copy? And moreover please can you expedite when your application is at the Nebraska center?
LBX on 2021-03-16 said:
@Pigo. â‘  It was the hard copies of the pictures. For the interview at the Embassy, it is best to take along the hard copies of any supporting evidence you have, whether or not you have submitted the soft copies. â‘¡ I don't know if you can expedite your I-130 at USCIS. We expedited when our application was completed at NVC.

blank avatar AplusT on 2021-04-16 said:
Hello congratulations on your approval !!! I noticed you said it is taking the embassy 12 months to schedule after DQ’d was that due to coronavirus ? Or is that the normal time line it will take even now ?
LBX on 2021-04-16 said:
@AlbieBio. I apologize. I am just seeing your message. Everything was submitted online. You should also submit anything that will help show your marriage is genuine.
LBX on 2021-04-18 said:
@AplusT: It's the approximation I calculated based on recent posts and timelines.for.Ghana VJ members. The last post I have seen was 14 months which is still within the 12 to14 month estimate for non expedited cases. Normal timeline before COVID was about 8 to 10 months.

@Akua Sika: Based on medical need for my daughter who was 4 months old at the time. I provided them with some evidence and the expedite was approved.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
