Any update on your AP? Did they take your passport?
Myaaa2002 on 2022-07-01 said:
The short answer is: “No†updates since April 26th. And “No†I have my passport still
The long answer is: They took my passport in the it wrong view as I was approved. And then in I was placed in AP, till April 22th (almost) they called and asked me to pick up my passport from the courier service, as the AP is still going and they don’t need the passport. Then they called two days later and said, come to the embassy and we’ll issue your visa. And when I went, they took the passport and called two days later, I went in, and they gave me the “empty†passport back with DS-5535. So last update was since the 26th of April, and my passport is with me.

Omg that's awful 😞 the Egyptian embassy is literally the worst. Inshallah it will be issued soon

You’re right, they’re probably the worst we heard of! Thank you so much! Wishing the best for everyone!

We have had to deal with them as well and were treated the same way. The Embassy is very unorganized and they delay as much as they can. They never give a real answer to anything. We have been waiting almost 3 years, they did keep my fiances visa for 8 months....We filed a Writ of Mandamus in Sept., they got served October 2 and called on November 2, Your visa is approved you must redo your medical exam. Our Interview was November 2, 2021. I really hope they start looking into how this Embassy is ran and how they conduct Business.

A Writ of mandamus is the only way they’ll consider approving a visa in AP 😔 I’m so sorry you had to pay as well, but thank God it’s finally done for you!

Hey there. Any chance you would mind sharing which lawyer you used? I have a feeling we will also need to file a writ of mandamus suit.

I’m afraid filing a lawsuit is the only way!

Exactly, spending that much money for smth you actually deserve!

Hey! Just curious, do you happen to remember how long after being notified by the lawyer that the summons was issued by the court to hear anything? We just received notice today that the summons has been issued for our writ of mandamus suit.
Mohamed & Crystal on 2023-04-27 said:
I used Jim Hacking, once the summons is issued they have 60 days to respond.

Just wanted to give an update. Our summons was served April 26th. An officer called me on May 24th and asked me a few questions over the phone (took ten minutes). This phone call was not pre-scheduled and unexpected. Then, June 7th we had a message on NVC asking him to redo his medical. The embassy called and said to send his passport in 10 days after his medical. Hoping this is a good sign. He just did his medical June 13th.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
