Finally got my visa today!
The interview experience was stressful, but pretty much what everyone else here was talking about. Took me two hours in total, but mostly just waiting.
First the japanese lady checked all my documents, asked couple of questions if I ever lived somewhere else, after some waiting times they took my fingerprints.
Then took more than an hour to wait till my actual interview.
The officer was really nice and smiling.
Questions:
-how did we meet?
-when else had we seen each other?
-what’s our wedding plans (which I thought he was asking sentimental question of our plans for wedding party, but all he needed to know if we are planning to get married officially and just have a “partyâ€)
-what is my job here in Japan?
Then he said they intend to approve my visa, but they still need to run some documents check. After the interview status was immediately changed to “refusedâ€, which could cause me a heart attack if I had not read about it before here on this forum that it is a normal practice. Received my passport after one week from the interview.
The total experience with the consulate was a little bit spoiled with time we lost, when they sent instructions to the wrong address.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
