Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Los Angeles
POE Date : 2021-06-30
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : We both flew back together and presented ourselves to us immigration together at LAX. Officer asked what was our relationship to each other and I said we were engaged to be married and she was traveling on a K1 and we we're ready to turn in out packet. It was a Wednesday night. Took us total about 10 minutes. Officer pointed out the date by when the 90 days runs out. And gave me bad info on us being able to just take the marricw certificate to USCIS to get a green card. I asked about AOS and he was clueless.

Consulate Review: El Salvador
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 25, 2021
Embassy Review : Overall ok experience.
Due to COVID, things are a mess.
We got out appointment because we were actively emailing questions and making sure they knew we were documents ready.
Must register on the US Trvel docs website.
Appointments were populated on the last week of the month for appointments the following month.
We probably got approved ahead of alot of folks because we were advocating hard.
Get your medical as soon as you can. Medical does a pre check.
Medical asks alot of non medical questions. Tests truthfulness
Once you clear medical which costs $600 then we emailed the embassy and let them know we were ready for an interview.
Magically the Monday of the last week of the month appointments opened up for us.
Once at appointment. Waited about 3 hours inside.
First desk you get called to they want the basis birth certificate, divorce decrees, DS160 receipt, MRV fee receipt. Checks DUI. That'd all
With the actual consul interview they verified alot of the information submitted on the 129f. No documents were asked by consul and did not look at the I134.
We were well prepared with a 3 ring binder for the I 134 and supporting evidence. Plus a photo album. And plenty of evidence off a relationship.
Interview took about 15 minutes mainly again verifying info on the 129f.
Where did you meet? How long ago? Have you met the parents? Tattoos. Arrests. ? Kids. Divorces. Thats it. Approved.
Rating : Good

Have you had any luck with making an appointment? We've paid the $265 fee and have all of our paperwork together, but they say there are no appointments available, and that they've been backlogged for a year. But, a couple recently (December) had an interview and I believe their paperwork arrived to the embassy in November.

None yet. But the latest info we got was to go get the medical exam. And then contact the embassy for appointments. We just did this so we are waiting for the report to be sent to the embassy and to contact for interview.

We just got an appointment. I think the trick was getting the medical and all requirements done so that we were interview ready. We also emailed the embassy a few times. And also I read they populate interview slots on the ustraveldocs website the last week of the month. Today we were able to get an interview for next week.

Are we supposed to pay the MRV fee before the interview? I thought it’s supposed to be paid after the visa approval. Do I pay it on us traveldocs?
blank avatar Sandiegodan2020 on 2021-06-06 said:
Yes you have to pay and get as much done so that the embassy green lights your interview. The embassy won't even talk yo you until paid. They will get the money regardless of approval or denial. Register on the UStraveldocs website. Create the profile. Follow the instructions. Make sure the names match. Pay MRV fee. Get the receipt. That receipt number must match info on your profile.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
