Comments : NVC - Never received confirmation from NVC regarding their receipt of our petition. Though they did respond to our second email communication attempt, without any timing information, but gave us our case number.
-Dec. 8, 2020 - received notice from NVC via email, stating they have sent our file to Madrid ! :)

-Received our interview appointment May 19!! It's May 24th!!! We were unable to book a medical exam before the interview and were concerned that because we have to leave his passport with the Consulate, we'd run into issues with the doctor, who also needs to verify the passport ID. We called the doctor and they are OK with a copy of the passport and an additional photo ID! So if this is a problem you run into, just give them a call- a heads up - and it should be fine.

-After the interview we were required to email new copies of his criminal records (from France and Spain) as they were older than 6 months as of the interview date. As the petitioner, I also had to resubmit a renewed intention to marry letter because the plans I had laid out in my initial letter had clearly been derailed by COVID. I combined everything in one email and was able to submit it the next day to ivmadrid@state.gov. They confirmed receipt a day later. Now we are waiting for the visa in the mail!

For the second attempt at a certified translation I used a different service that I'd really recommend. It's $20 per page and they got it back to me in less than 24 hours! It's universal-translation-services.com.

Comments : We received a RFE solely based on the fact that the doctor who conducted our Medical Exam failed to use the right form! My advice is to check the bottom of your I-693 before the doctor seals it and make sure the date says it is the 9/13/21edition - or the most current! Always double check.

Received our approval without an interview!! Feels like a lucky break! But we received notice that our I-485 was approved. No sign that our application was "transferred" - other than having to send our response to a RFE to a Brooklyn office. But hooray!!!
*No word at all on our EAD or AP. But we'll take the green card!

Consulate Review: Madrid, Spain
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 27, 2021
Embassy Review : Fantastic! My fiance reported that it was super easy. They asked him about his professional plans in the United States. Did not look at any of the photos he brought or letters.

But! Please note - they asked us to submit renewed copies of his criminal record reports because they were more than 6 months old. We were able to get them that same day online, and I had to have his french report translated - but we got it all within 24 hours to them over email.

They also asked me to resubmit my letter of intention to marry him, as the plans we had laid out to get married in our initial letter have clearly been derailed by COVID. I assume they are asking everyone currently processing to do this because of similar delays and expiration of plans.

I'd recommend ensuring that your criminal records are less than 6 months old before submitting them with your DS160 paperwork.

Sidenote - my fiance was not able to book a medical appointment before the interview. The interview was at noon and the doctor was at 4PM, we were able to avoid any issues pertaining to his passport - as the doctor allowed him to bring a copy of the passport and a separate photo ID. (You need your passport at the doctor appointment otherwise). Just FYI!

We expect the visa in a week or so via mail!
Chris had to address an envelope to himself that they use to send the passport and visa back to him.
Rating : Very Good

We never received confirmation from Madrid that they received our application. We did however, receive notice that processing had resumed along with the documentation instructions and permission to file the DS-160 - on April 14, 2021. -We submitted the DS-160 on April 15, and mailed our docs to Madrid priority - which arrived on April 23rd.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
