Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : I have to say that I was very nervous at the prospect of the interview... I had prepared everything in two examples and was ready to answer any kind of questions, even the most personal... But in the end it all went very well!!

I was called to a window and there a nice french lady started to ask me forms, passport pictures and other evidence of support. My fiancé had sent me a lot of things so she gave me back almost half of the papers! We went through all the forms, she asked me if me or my fiancé had been married, had kids. Then she took my fingerprints and asked if I had more paperwork to submit. I was about to say: emails, pictures, wedding registry... and she said I don't want that, it's all for the consul. Then she told me to go back to a seat and that the consul would call me at another window...
I waited a little while and got called at another window by an american woman this time. She asked me whether I wanted to talk in English or in French. I said I didn't mind so she kept going in English. She asked me a few questions:
When did you meet?
How did you meet?
Does he know your family?
Do you know his family?
What does he do for a living?
What do you do for a living?
What do you intend on doing in the US?
As we met online she also asked on which website, maybe to see if it was on some kind of match.com or something. I told her we met on a music forum and she asked me which one.
Then she told me I was granted the K1
She told me a few things I already knew (thanks to VJ) like I can use the K1 in the next 6 months of issuance and that I should look into the AOS process ASAP.
I was surprised she didn't ask me some evidence of an ongoing relationship. I suppose it seemed genuine from the begining :P
I got the passport in the mail 6 days later with a big enveloppe for immigration at my POE. They even sent me back the pictures my fiancé had submitted in the I-129 petition!

So it's a very positive review!!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
