Initial Interview: sent requiring Joint Sponsor. Sent that. Submitted one week later. Told to return in 1 week. Sent away one week later, they were too busy to process her case, come back in 1 week. Came back again next week, success. Visa in hand next day. New personnel processing some cases, seem to be making waves establishing themselves, requiring lots of 'addition paperwork' in many cases. |

Embassy Review : |
Our appointment was scheduled for 8am, today, 9/29/08. We arrived at 7:30, gained entry and sat down. We were called at 7:55 and Don Suter swore us in and we got started. His first question was how we met, not addresses to either on of us specifically, so I (USC) answered. Then as he was paging thru the huge file, he had some small questions about previous marriages and children. Very laid back and informal. He then went thru about 50% of the 'terrorist, prostitute, srug questions' with my wife, and he was vary patient and slow, making sure she understood. He asked for any paperwork we had regarding a relationship (bank statements, credit cards, etc) and took the copies we brought. A few more minutes and a few more simple questions, and he said that there was only 1 problem. The vaccination fom filled out by the doctor in Thailand, the shots were complete, but for some reason, Don says, the doctors always mark the 'Incomplete' box on the bottom. And that is a snag. Fortunately for us, there was a civil doctor set up in an office right next door to the USCIS (coincidence? Maybe....) and he sent us over there to get the shot transferred to a new sheet. That literally took us 10 minutes. We went back to his office, he took the sheet, and congratulated us, telling us he would tell the computer this afternoon to start card production. He gave us a sheet reminding us that we will have to submit another form in 21 months to get the 10 year card, but we were out of there at 8:50. What a great day. No complaints, just make sure your immunization form (we used the 3xxx form provided by the Thai doc) is marked 'Complete'. If not, get it transferred to a new one. You don't need any physical, and you probably don't need any more shots, you just need it transferred to a sheet marked 'Complete'. All-in-all a happy experience. |

Timeline Comments: 1Congrats!! Our k-1 visa is in "Ready" status. It says to wait until contacted before scheduling the interview. What do you recommend? Thanks Keith
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
