Local US CIS Office Review: Newark NJ

Event Description
Review Date : August 21, 2007
Embassy Review : Our appointment was at 8.30am, we were pleased about this as hopefully it would mean less waiting! We arrived at 8am and were promptly admitted and given instructed on where to go and how to pass through the metal detectors and security (my wife said that this was the most scary part!).

Once through we were quickly sent to the correct floor for the interview. We were instructed to put our appointment notice in the AOS window and wait to be called. We were called at 8.45 so hardly any wait, which was a good as we had our 2 week old baby with us!

Our interviewer was a very nice lady who asked us to tell the truth and nothing but. She sat us down and from this point on most of the questioning was directed at me. She asked where we met, the date of our first date, and my wife's birthday. She then asked my wife for my birthday...so far so good She then asked about our wedding and if we had any photos, I had made copy's at CVS the day before so we had some to give her (she mentioned that the more formal the picture the better it is for USCIS).

She took extra copies of our marriage certificate and and also our Son's SSN and birth certificate. She also asked for document to prove joint residence, we provided our home insurance - which she said was perfect. At this point she smiled at us said CONGRATULATIONS -I am approving you, she then took my EAD and also stamped my passport for 1 year and told me I should expect to see my Greencard with 3 months

Over all a very good experience, the Newark office was very organized and efficient. The wait was not long and our interviewer was very nice and friendly.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
