It was a fairly quick process, officer at immigration asked if it was my first time entering since I got my visa, he took my finger print of right hand only , took a picture of me , asked how many bags I had checked and brought me to secondary screening. In secondary screening I waited about 5 mins and was then asked where I’d like my green card to be mailed and if I wanted to updated my phone number . Afterwards I was given the stamp I n my passport and told welcome. |

Appointment time : 9:45am
-Arrived at 9:43 , officer came out asked if I had an appointment to which I responded yes 9:45am. He asked for my name and to see my passport. After verifying I was on the list and that my passport matched the name they had listed I was asked to proceed inside , sanitize my hand and remove my jacket hat etc (airport security style) . Officers were very professional, I was asked to turn off my cellphone place it in a locker and hold on to the key. After I got my coat and documents and was instructed to take the elevator to floor 1 and go to window 6.
- once I got to floor one window six was straight ahead and on my left . I stood there for about 5-7 mins waiting for someone to come. The gentleman came and took my passport, handed me a ticket and told me to have a seat and watch for my number on screen. With covid and everything was socially distanced and the room was dead silent. The clock is broken and stuck on 4:30pm so I had no real semblance of time. I sat down for 20 mins or so doing my suduko puzzle ( brought a book to pass the time ) and then my number was called to window 3 , I was asked to confirm my Canadian address and US address of my petitioner then present the following documents : birth certificate, police records , one photo . He advised he needed to update my file then would call me back to do my finger print and gave to a domestic violence pamphlet to review. I sat down for another 5 mins or so and then was called back to window 3 to fingerprint . Left hand , right hand then both thumbs. I was told to have a seat and the interviewer will call me when ready. I sat for another 20-25 minutes continuing my puzzle then I was called to window 2. The interviewer asked me to state my name , birth of date and petitioner name. She asked when we met , where, if this was our first marriage, any kids. what i do for work, what he did for work and how long. She asked what state he lived in and if that’s where I will be when I go to the US, she asked if the home was rented or owned, she asked when I moved to Canada , longest time I have spent in the us on my visitors visa, countries I have travelled to in last five years. She asked if I understood the domestic violence handout. She checked my medical and then stated they had everything they needed and would be able to approve my visa today. She handed me a green letter sized paper that said welcome to the United States of America and detailed next steps she explained when I make my trip to leave time for a secondary interview at my point of entry which could take up to an hour. She also gave me a white piece of paper with information on how to track my passport which she advised should be returned to me within 2 weeks along with a packet I should not open. She said have a great day and that was it. I got in the building 9:45 and was out at 11:15am |

Wow! You are so lucky! you probably dont think that way but your application went pretty fast! I received my NoA1 March 2020 and haven't received anything new since then!
Thank you! Keep positive , I’m extremely thankful my process is going the way it is and hopeful the interview will yield good news too. Fingers crossed you’ll get news soon @Ilovecancun29
Hey. Congrats! Did you get the visa packet mailed back to your home or did you stay in Montreal and get it sent to you there?
The visa packets are all electronic now , so it’ll be available at POE. I did however have my passport sent back to me in Newfoundland, which is what I received today
What was the final status of your application (after the interview) before you received the passport?
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
