Consulate Review: Ethiopia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 20, 2021
Embassy Review : The interview was on April 15th,2021 at US Embassy in Addis Ababa. The medical wasn't yet ready.
Interview was at 8:00 am and arrived 1 hour early waited outside until 07:45 am.
Once inside they checked DS-160, affidavit of Support with 2020 Tax return and 2020 transcripts, police report, Non Marital Certificate, medical receipt from hospital . The following questions asked.
1. What is your fiance name?
2. How many times has he visited you?
3. How you got introduced to your fiance?
Was also informed to bring the medical in person Mon thru Thur between 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. After that the consular officer said congratulations your visa has been approved. It was a great experience and the interview went smoothly. On Thurs Apr 22 medical was ready from hospital. Submitted Medical on Mon Apr 26.
Rating : Very Good

Hello, I just wanted to ask u, after the NVC sent your case to the embassy, did u wait for the embassy to contact you or did u fill out the DS-160 by yourself? I'm confused because my case was sent by NVC the same day yours was sent. I would appreciate your help.

I waited until the embassy contacted me. It looks like your case is Cr1/IR1 (spousal) which is a little different from the k1 fiance (visa). From what I understand the embassy schedules CR1/IR1 visa interviews. Good luck

My NOA 2 is a month after yours. They still did not contact me. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to get the letter from them.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
