I want to make this review full of details because it is the details of others that have helped me so much. So, for those who are driving from Ontario to Montreal, it is a 5h and a half drive. There are stops along the way called onroute that have washroom and Tim Horton and other food choices. I was told by other who drove a week ago that they will stop me at the Quebec border, but there was no one there stopping people. I was ready with the interview letter and hotel booking info but this doesn't mean that on the day you drive there will be the same. Still be prepared. When I drove back I did see some police officers on the way from Ontario to Quebec hanging by an onroute stop. So coming back into Ontario there was a police car with police officers hanging around as we came out of Quebec, I saw signs saying prepare to stop, the police just waved us on and that was that. I stayed at the Holiday Inn 1390, boulevard René-Lévesque Ouest H3G 0E3 Montreal, which I think it was a great choice even though I got a little lost finding it. It was very close about 8-minute walk to the Consulate very clean and nice atmosphere helping to calm down the nerves. They also have parking for $29 a day which comes in handy since most hotels downtown do not have parking. So, I did my walk to the consulate the night before, I literally walked past it. It is not very obvious so look for Royal BANK and, then you will see it. Up the road there is a Tim Horton. Most of the restaurants only deliver food, there is no walk in. So this morning my walk from the hotel to the consulate started at 8am, my interview was at 8:15. I got there at 8:10 and there was a line of people already by the building. An officer opened the door and ask if anyone was scheduled for 8:15. I came out of the line as I was last in the line and raised my hand and went. The officer wanted to see my passport he did not want to touch it, so he just wants you to open the passport and show him the picture and name. Then he asked me the covid questions, when did I last travel out of the country and if I was out of the country in the past 14 days, any contact with covid people. Then we went to the right and put our stuff in trays to be scanned by the airport style machine. The lobby place is very tiny. Once our stuff was clear we were ok to walk through the metal detector machine. Then we were told to take the elevator to the first floor and window 6. Looks like everyone goes to window 6 first. They did have sanitizer by the door and asked me to use it . At window 6 we gave our passports and interview confirmation letter. So you will have the interview appointment letter they have emailed you and, the interview confirmation letter that the computer generates for you once you register your appointment online and decide if you want them to send your passport at home or to the postal office. Make sure to register online or they will not have you on the list that day. The officer in the lobby did cross our name off the list. So after we gave the passports and confirmation letter to window 6, we were told to sit and wait for our number to be called. Hold on to that ticket number they will use that number to call you at 2 different time. There is a screen on the wall that notifies you when your turn come. Your ticket number will come up and what window to go to. The clock on the wall works now :). There is a washroom and water fountain. We waited about 30 minutes and were called to window 4 and a very nice lady asked me to confirm my full name, date of birth, address I live at in Canada, my phone number, my husband's address in USA and his phone number. Then she asked for my birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificated for both of us (we are both divorced), police check mine expires this month and I did a new one they liked that and only asked for the new one, W2 and 1040. She asked for my son's birth certificate, letter from his dad consenting his move to USA. She did not ask my son anything, just greeted him. I do have joint custody. If you have full custody you are ok, no letter is needed. She took our fingerprints. I was given the domestic violence pamphlet. We went to sit back down. A note here (we used investments and assets because my husband's income fell a bit short of what it should be. All was well, she did ask me if I brought any new financial documents. I did mention the updates from the investments, but she said the officer might ask during the interview. I was not asked.) After about 15 minutes or so we were called again to another window and an older gentleman took fingerprints of our left hand, for me and my son. Then he asked me: The name of my petitioner What does he do? Where I met him,? When did we get married ? Who lives at the address where I will be living ? What are the ages of my husband's kids? My son was asked his age and if he was ever arrested, that was it for him. So, I knew I would have to apply for a waiver, I was given a letter that goes with the waiver and some more information. We walked back to our hotel, the whole experience was under 2h about 1h and 45 minutes. There were quite a few people there. I don't like driving downtown so the nerve racking experience of getting out of there was short-lived as we just turned right and right again and were back on highway 20 that leads straight into 720 and 401. So we applied for a vaccine waiver. Today July 8/2021 the waiver was approved. I sent all the waivers we have used in the past for myself for work and my son for school. Also, letters from my doctor and my son's doc saying that we did not take vaccines and that we know the risk of not taking them. It took one month for the waiver to be approved. I mailed my paper work and everything to my husband in the USA and he filed the I-601 waiver for me with the fee, since I was not sure if they will take money from a Canadian account.
