Why was there such a big gap between case complete at NVC and NVC left? I would have figured that those 2 things would happen just a few days apart?
MrsBlake16 on 2022-02-06 said:
There’s a huge backlog at NVC due to Covid. I had to expedite my case for medical reasons or it would still be sitting at NVC.

I guess I was under the impression that once NVC approved the case, it immediately gets sent to the embassy/consulate for the next steps i.e. medical and interview. Kinda like how once USCIS approved it only took a week or so for NVC to get the case. Am I wrong? Also the approval time is roughly 90 days for NVC, which doesnt sound too bad.
MrsBlake16 on 2022-02-06 said:
No you’re right. Usually once NVC approves it gets sent immediately, but NVC kept telling us that the Jamaican Embassy was only taking expedited cases so a lot of people whose cases were complete at NVC in late 2020 were and still are waiting unless they requested to expedite their case. I sent 8 requests to expedite, all denied and they finally approved on my 9th try in December 2021 and it was finally sent immediately to the embassy.

Thanks for answering my questions, I appreciate it. But you've officially ruined my night 😂. We submitted our case to NVC 02 Jan. '22. The I-130 at USCIS was quick for us, only took 120 days. Maybe we get lucky again. I hope Jamaica clears that backlog.

You’re so welcome! Omg I’m so sorry 😩. I thought we had this in the bag and that we were headed for smooth sailing. 120 days?! That’s amazing! I actually think they’re starting to get that backlog up and running now. Wishing you guys the very best of continued luck and a very speedy rest of your journey 🙌🏾.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
