What are the odds that I found two people on one day here on this forum who are also from Montreal. I am not as far in the process as you, did not even receive my NOA2 yet (I sent my docs last August). If you have any tips for me, I would be interested to hear. Looking at your timeline, It might not be a bad idea to wait with the police certificates so they don't expire. Everything takes so very long these days ....
I wish you best of luck and can't wait to see when you might have an interview date.

Congratulations! You must be so happy after waiting so long! Good luck! :)

Thank you :) Finally seeing the visa in the passport is the best feeling!

I'm still following your case :) Congratulations on your marriage. What a relief and joy it must be after all this time! I finally have my interview date on Jan. 13th. and can't wait to get started with my new life as well.
I saw that you filed the Adjustment of status, the work, and travel authorization pretty quickly after your marriage. May I ask if you used an immigration lawyer or online service, or did you do this all on your own?

Thank you! We did a courthouse wedding so we were given the certified marriage certificate right away. That really helped cause you K1 expires on December 28th so I'm glad we were able to file quickly. I did it all on my own. It wasn't complicated. But we may get an RGE cause my husband started a new job 2 days before we filed so obviously he didn't have paystubs yet. So I wrote a letter explaining the situation and attached his last 6 months of paystubs from his previous job.
Hopefully that will be enough. Otherwise, at least by the time we get an RFE he will have been there a few months.

Good luck with the paystub! It sounds like the paperwork is not too hard then. I hope I'll see an update on your timeline again in a few months that you received the Green Card! :)

I hope I get a work permit soon! Florida is beautiful but not working kinda sucks after awhile.
So glad you to see you finally have an interview date. The interview is super easy.

Do you remember what questions they ask? They change them up anyway, but I'm curious.
I'm flying to see my parents in Germany tomorrow. I truly hope that Canada doesn't add any travel restrictions again before my return, so that I can make the interview. I didn't want to miss the small window to visit them before moving to the States and having to wait for the travel permit.

Just basic questions. They'll ask what your fiance's name is, what he does for work, how you met. They asked me how many times we visited each other and what was the longest time I spent in the US at once. That's was pretty much all.

Thank you for all your information. Have a great holiday season! :)

Hello again, I moved to the States last Friday. It's so nice to finally be with my fiance :) We don't have a date for the wedding quite yet, but I'm already looking through the paperwork I need to file for the Green Card. One of the things that are listed yet again is the police certificates for the countries you lived in. We already submitted that for the K1 visa, and the guard at the border kept the envelope with all the paperwork. Did you apply for another set of police certificates or do those count that we submitted already? Since you are always a step ahead of me, you may already know the answer to this question, and I hope you don't mind sharing your experience. :)

Hi! Congrats on finally getting here.
You don't need to submit a police for AOS since you already submitted one to get the K1.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping. It took quite a while to get the certificate from Germany.
I hope you're enjoying your time in Florida and get some approvals soon. Did everything work out well with the paperwork after your husband changed jobs? Best wishes (now from Oregon :) )

It was a mess. I ended up getting an RFE saying he didn't meet the income requirements cause his 2020 taxes were low due to being unemployed for a bit during Covid. But his new salary is over the requirement. I ended up going to a lawyer who told me that when they ask for 'current income' they basically just want you to rewrite your last tax amount. Shebwas amazing and helped with the new paperwork and only charged me a consult fee.
Anyways, we filed his 2021 taxes last week, and responded to the RFE.
So now we continue waiting...
Andreams on 2022-02-25 said:
Oh wow, fingers crossed for you both. It sounds like your lawyer helped you a lot so that their requirements are fulfilled now.

Your interview is coming up in July already! That's great news. I wish you the best of luck. Please let me know how it went. I'll try to remember to check here again after that date :)
I just received my Biometrics appointment today, so I'm a few months behind, but things seem to move fairly fast right now. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Congratulations on your Greencard approval! What great news. I'm still waiting for my work authorization, but it should come any day now! :)

Thank you! I received the card this morning which was awesome cause today is my 1 year anniversary of moving to Florida.
Hope you get your EAD soon. Life is so much easier once you can work.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
