Consulate Review: United Arab Emirates
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 15, 2022
Embassy Review : Our interview was at 1pm. Husband went in at 12. Was waiting outside in line until ~12:45. After going inside it was security checks (airport style). Then passport and IL were collected and he was given a token. Then he waited till he was called for documents.
Documents asked for:
-Marriage Certificate
-Birth Certificate
-National ID card
-1 passport sized photo
After that they took his fingerprints, this was done quickly. Then he waited ~an hour for the interview part. No further documents were requested but he was asked a lot of questions. He said it was more of a conversation than an interview and the interviewer was nice and made jokes. He was approved, he didn’t receive any papers but was told his passport would be kept for stamping and he should get it sometime after the weekend.
He came out at 2:30.

Questions asked:
-When and how did you meet?
-What is your job?
-What is your spouse’s job?
-Where does your spouse live?
-Will you also live in City, State?
-Were you married before this marriage?
-Was your spouse married before this marriage?
-Do you have any children?
-Does your spouse have any children?
-Do you have family in the US?
-Is this your first time going to the US?
-When did you get married?
-Where did you get married?
-How many times has your spouse come to visit?
-What kind of wedding did you have?
-Who came from the US to attend your wedding?
-What level of education do you have?

He went in with a file of just about every document we could think of in addition to all of the requested ones. However, they didn’t even ask for half of the things they required in the instructions email. Better safe than sorry I guess?
Rating : Very Good

NVC has sent an email confirming that documents are complete and will work with Abu dhabi embassy to schedule an interview appointment date. This was in January. How much time did it take for you get a response on this; in other words getting the interview date ?

We received the email saying our case has been DQ on 8/11/2020. We scheduled our interview 1/28/2022. Our case has been expedited though.

Did you schedule the interview yourself or NVC/Embassy provided you the interview date and then you registered the appointment online

Also was your sponsor in US ? Mine is in UAE so just wanted to check if there was anything extra asked on the interview

We scheduled the interview ourselves. Sponsor? Please clarify what you mean by that.

We are still waiting to hear from NVC on the interview date. To what i understand they send you a final confirmation on when to schedule the interview. Did you by any chance asked NVC to expedite your case quicker to get an earlier interview date? Sponsor is the one who is a US citizen/petitioner
blank avatar RandW on 2022-02-02 said:
Yes our case has been expedited. I am the petitioner and am in the UAE.
Hassan Aamir on 2022-02-02 said:
Thank you. What did you provide to embassy to prove your domicile at the time of interview ?

We didn't have our interview yet. However, I don't live in the UAE so I do not think we need to prove this.

Hi! First of all congratulations! I just wanted to ask how you were able to get the interview expedited, I heard it rarely gets approved. Thank you!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
