We had the appointment scheduled on a Thursday. We waited in line outside until it was 15 mins before the interview hour. We were greeted with airport security protocols, friendly security guards. Next we checked in at the desk and went upstairs to the waiting area. It took us probably about 20 minutes until an officer called our name. He greeted us and made us swear under oath. He proceeded by asking us questions about joint financial evidence. I gave him our joint bank account statements, phone bills, apartment lease, car title and insurance. After that he asked a few questions about our relationship, how did we meet, when did we first meet, who were at our weddings. He asked my husband about what I studied (I'm an F1), his job and study, what he intends to do with his career. I suggested to show him our photos but he said he didn't have to except just a few photos that show my mom has met my husband. Next we went over the procedural questions like have I ever committed a crime, been arrested, etc. The officer also double checked our info on the application, asking us our parents' names, our SSN, contact info. The whole interview was probably about 20 minutes. At the end he just said something generic like "you will be notified about the result in a month or two" but then half an hour later I got notified that the card is being produced for me. The next day my application status changed to case approved for forms I-485 and I-130. Two days after that or so, I got notified again this time the USCIS has handed the card to USPS. We were quite nervous but the whole process was pretty seamless. I have a lawyer for my case but he didn't go to our interview because I moved out of state. Oh after we left the interview I realized I forgot to give him my husband's paystubs for his new job and a few other documents so we went back in the building and filled out a "Additional evidence submission" form with the check-in desk lady and handed her our paperwork but I guess we really didn't need to because right after we left I got notified my case was approved. |
