Comments : Flight was originally booked for April 6th, had to rebook to April 17th. I don’t know if they are going to let me in, but I won’t have anywhere to live after April, so I can’t book a flight later than April.
*Update: Because of the travel ban, I had to stay in Mexico for 2 weeks prior to entering the US. On May 31st, I took a flight from Mexico City to LA. Port of etnry was very easy and smooth, took only about 5 minutes. No questions asked.

Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : March 6, 2020
Embassy Review : I had my interview on March 3rd 2020.
In Frankfurt, you have to wait outside first before you can go through security. I waited for around 50 minutes, which was fine, because it was sunny and I had a warm jacket and a scarf with me. So you should bring warm clothing and an umbrella, just in case it starts raining. I had to go to the left line first and I needed to show them my passport and they gave me a waiting number. Then they told me to line up for security at the end of the right line.
I went through security and they told me I couldn’t take my x-ray cd with me, which my doctor told me to bring to the interview. But it wasn’t a problem, since they just gave me a number and kept it for me in exchange.
You can’t bring any sorts of electronics so leave you phone or laptop in the car/hotel/at home.
After passing security, I went on a small path from the security building to the actual consulate building, where a woman at a reception welcomed me, took a look at my passport and waiting number, gave me a piece of paper with information about the interview on it and told me to go to window 22.
At window 22, there was a friendly man asking me to give him my passport and waiting number. He checked it, gave me back my waiting number, told me that he’s gonna hand my passport and documents (the ones requested in packet 3 about a month prior to the interview) over to the next case worker. He told me to take a seat in the waiting area until my number was called. After around 15 minutes, my number was called and this time, I had to go to window 21.
There, a friendly lady greeted me and asked me if I had completed my residence history (which they send you after you made your appointment). I gave her my completed residence history. She then told me that they reviewed all my documents from packet 3, but that my results from the medical examination hadn’t been received yet. In Germany, it’s the Doctor that sends the results to the consulate, so I was a little confused why they hadn’t been received yet, since my medical had been around a month ago. She then told me that they are going to contact the doctor. I was told to take a seat again until they called my number for the interview.
It took them around 1,5 hours to do that. I had my interview at window 16 with a friendly consular. I had to make an oath that all Information was true. Then he took my fingerprints.
The interview itself was very smooth. Questions were: when and where did you guys meet? When did you see each other the last time? When did you decide to get married? Do you already have any wedding plans? Do you work? Was any of you married or has children?
After the interview he told me he is intending to approve the visa after my medical examination results have been received and reviewed. He gave me a 221(g) because he couldn’t approve my visa yet, since the medical was missing. He kept my passport.
After coming back to my hotel, I immediately called the doctor who said that they had sent the medical examination documents already two weeks ago. He assured me he was gonna send the email with the documents again. I emailed the consulate telling them the should have already received my results. Soon after that I received a reply saying that they now received my medical exam results.
After that my case went into administrative processing. The following days the status of our case on the ceac website went from administrative processing to refused (which was probably a glitch in the system) to application received and then back to administrative processing. Three days after the interview, on March 6th, the status finally changed to issued.
All in all, everyone was very friendly. Even before the interview they helped me out a lot when I had questions. In most cases they won’t talk to you on the phone, so I recommend sending them an email. They usually reply very fast.

Similar case: San Francisco office. We have been ready for an interview since Jan 2021. I filled for a new WP/AP in September 2021 (over 4 months now). My combo card spires in March 2022 and I haven’t received the new one. Without the new combo card I can’t renew my DL. What a nightmare.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
