Consulate Review: Honduras
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : September 11, 2020
Embassy Review : Overall a very pleasant experience for my fiance. He was notably very nervous when he arrived, but the consulate staff were respectful and pleasant. The guard did a security check and he was directed to the immigrant visa line and took a seat to arrange his papers. When his name was called they took his fingerprints and asked for his papers. Because of Covid, the DPI of Honduras is really backed up on providing police clearance. They allowed him to take the interview anyway and advised him to provide the receipt to prove that he paid for the police clearance even though he did not have it on hand (the consulate member said she would pick it up at another date). The woman that interviewed him was friendly and only really paid attention to the affidavits of support. She was not going to approve the visa when she saw how much money I make a year (the petitioner) but then she saw that we had a joint sponsor (my mother) and then she continued. He was asked how we met, if I (the petitioner) had any children, and when he was planning on bring is son into the USA. He was then asked to undress in another room because he has tattoos and they need to be checked over for gang affiliation. He was then brought back out and congratulated that his visa was approved and welcomed to the USA.
Rating : Very Good

Hi! Just peeking at your timeline to seek some guidance. Currently awaiting on the NVC to ship out the packet to TGU (on hold due to COVID-19). I was wondering if you happen to have a copy of P3 and if you do not mind sharing (going nuts trying to get a head start) and did you schedule your appointment right away or did you wait for the P3 and P4 to come in. Thank you in advance and congratulations on the approval!

So we do not receive an official P3 or P4 through the Tegucigalpa consulate. We only receive an email saying that they have received an approved i129f petition and to follow the instructions on the embassy website. I do not have any of those things saved any more, but I made a facebook group titled K1 Visa Filers Honduras with all of the steps in detail along with anything I received throughout the process so far. We were so close to the interview but it got canceled 10 days before due to COVID19. Let me know if you have any specific questions... I think I am the closest to an expert on the Honduras consulate that there is haha. Stay Healthy!

Thanks. I just requested your group on FB. Who did you guys do the medical examination with? How was your experience with the provider? Oh man it sucks that you guys got cancelled
Alivia on 2020-05-01 said:
He did his medical in SPS at Hospital CEMESA with Dr. Fernando Valerio because it was the closest to Tela where he lives. He had a a great experience and had to go 2 days to get results. Costed us about $600 for everything but the pricing depends on if your fiance/fiancee has tattoos and if he or she has had certain shots and if they have their shot records.

Hi! I was just sneaking a peek too. Always eager from any updates from others further along in this process than us. I just requested to join your Facebook.

Hi! Just checking in to see how if you were able to reschedule your fiancé's interview?
Alivia on 2020-07-18 said:
I have not gotten any emails from the embassy and i check often on the ustraveldocs website and no interview dates are being posted. Honduras is in the middle of their bad COVID19 phase.
blank avatar MMM3 on 2020-07-18 said:
Same here. I am going crazy checking all the websites every day and calling places. Also, reaching out to House reps and Senators. As far as I know airports are going to open in August and I dont know if that is a good sign.
Kswheezy on 2020-09-09 said:
Hey, did you get a new interview date from the embassy?
Alivia on 2020-09-09 said:
yes! i just received an email saying they rescheduled.
Kswheezy on 2020-09-09 said:
Was it spontaneous? Did you guys have to do anything for it to get it rescheduled? I'm so happy for you both! This is exciting :)
Alivia on 2020-09-09 said:
It was spontaneous. As long as you already had an interview scheduled, it will be rescheduled automatically and they will send you an email. And thanks! us too!!!

saw your consulate review and checked your profile, Sorry about the COVID-19 hassle, but glad everything went smoothly. Congrats! Also FYI (i learned the hard way), Do not book travel till VISA is in hand and also till airports are open to travel.
Alivia on 2020-09-11 said:
Thank goodness airports in Honduras are open for travel for visa holders :) He was told that the visa should arrive in about 3 days because they are going to express ship it (he has to be out of the country by October 13th because that is when his medical expires)

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
