Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 23, 2020
Embassy Review : Interview was at 7am. We arrived a little before 6, there were already a few people in line. Guards place you in line according to your appointment time. Doors opened at 6:20. They asked for passports, and appointment letter. They asked for this constantly so we just had it in hand at all times. They only let in those with 6:30 appointments first, if you went up with a later appointment they did not let you in. Once we got through security, we went in to another building to receive a number and wait in line to turn in our documents. While in line they asked different people for different things, some applicants got asked for a lot some for only a couple things. Make sure you bring everything just in case. We got asked for his passport, marriage and birth certificate. They confirmed our contact information and address and was asked to go to the waiting room and wait between windows 19-30 for our Interview. Once we sat down It was just about 7. We got number 28 but numbers aren’t called in order. This was the most frustrating part because numbers 1-195 were called before we got called. Our number was finally called around 9:45.
The CO didn’t greet us just went straight to it, he asked for the interviews letter and number. He asked us How and Where we met. What did I do for work, and what we disliked about our spouse. Another CO approached the window and he excused himself and began speaking with her for 5 mins about personal stuff. He then turned grabbed a white paper threw it at us And I guess he said your visa is approved and walked away.
My husband and I were confused but once we read the paper we understood it was approved. We walked out of there extremely happy! We only wish we got someone nicer.
Rating : Good

What did it say on ceac website? Because i received email stating everything was approved but on website it says accepted not DQ
Melissa&Julio on 2019-09-30 said:
Well, the website says accepted. But they send you a separate email stating your case is DQ and they are working on getting an interview. I received two emails at the same time. One stating my documents were accepted then another stating I was DQ and was waiting for an interview. Did you get an email?

congrats on your approval, but do you mind me asking why it took so long from the date NVC received the case to actually having an interview?
Melissa&Julio on 2020-06-06 said:
Hi G&B16, Thank you! Sure, our original interview was in November of 2019. But when the medical was done there was more testing needed and results took about 2 months. We had to wait to be cleared to then reschedule the interview. The results were received in late January and the next available date was in February. Hope that answers your question!
Melissa&Julio on 2020-06-06 said:
December*** not November. The medical was done in November. Sorry for the mistake.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
