Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 14, 2022
Embassy Review : Very few people, some spouses, fiances and US passports services I could notice. May of 2021, nice winter in Rio, interviewed by a very nice lady. She asked me about the tourist visa denied previously, my profession, how many times my fiance had been to Brazil to visit me (8 total), if the father of my son has agreed about him to live in the USA, and then she said everything was right, approved, I asked how long could it take because I had flight ticket for june 11, she said she would try to expedite it, looks like was not possible. Unfortunately the days that followed the interview I got two holidays, one Brazilian and one American in the same week, plus the delays because of the pandemic, plus I had to return to the Consulate to redo fingerprints for my son (as a child, he didn't need to be present for that, only for the interview) they only issued my visa and my son's almost one month after. Luckily I was still in Rio de Janeiro, since I would stay there until to receive my visa and flight to the USA, which I did the next day.

Hello! A entrevista de vocês é no mesmo dia que o nosso. Vocês remarcaram ou acham que vai ser cancelado também? Vocês conseguiram fazer o exame médico já? Seria interessante fazermos um grupo de whatsapp pra trocar informações. +1(508)905-9902

Hello, My name is Robert, I was just wondering if your interview was canceled for January or is it still happening? I really hope your appointment is still happening for the first of January.

Yes I have been thinking this for a long while. Especially, since I can only find that Brasil is the only country not giving interviews. Our new interview date is April 12th. We have already gone through the K1 visa and gotten married in the states, We had to reapply as a marriage visa because our son got sick and she had to return back to Rio before she got her green card. But I wish you and everyone good luck

What’s the reason why your interview is so late in June? Was this the only available date?

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
