Consulate Review: Guyana
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 5, 2019
Embassy Review : Check-in process was simple. This consulate highly encourages the presence of the petitioner for relationship based visas. Security screening is quick, guards make an effort to speak a little spanish, a really small minority are quiet rude to Cubans who don't speak english. Interview process was also quick, maybe 15 minutes. From check-in to approval we spent a total of an hour at the consulate.
The not great part is the waiting and the lack of any clear timeline for when the visa will be available. I think if the government is going to ask people to travel to a third country for processing, they can make a better effort to provide clear timelines because travel arrangements need to be made. Saying it could be 10 days or at least 5 business days is a little wishy washy for me.

You don’t need to have anything translated for the interview. Translations are only for documents you send to USCIS

well noted... hopefully the Guyana's Embassy don't ask me for english translations , have a good one, and thanks again

Hola Yoger, gracias por tu ayuda... mi esposo pago la visa en Guyana en la embajada el día de la entrevista en efectivo. Y le dio una fecha para ir a recoger la visa.

Yuny, what YoGer said. You find the forms on the USCIS website as well as the instructions and the list of supporting documents needed. YoGer, you are suppose to sign up for yatris so that you can general the payment coupon with a unique ID number. The website is on the letter you received with your appointment date. You pay the fee at Scotia bank at least 3 business days before the interview. The payment coupon is only valid for 5 days so don’t print it too early.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
