Consulate Review: Croatia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 3, 2020
Embassy Review : Mask was required due to Covid, as was sanitizing your hands, there is had sanitizer everywhere. At the entrance they check your ID, then you go through security. Your phone and any electronics need to be shut off. They will keep them, give you a card with a number so you can pick them up when leaving. Then you head to the building where the interviews are conduced. They will call your name, take your prints, take any documentation needed. They will explain to you what needs to happen after the interview, when you enter the US etc. Then you will go to a different window, where you will pay the processing fee. You can pay with cash, kuna or dollars, credit card or debit card. After that you wait for the consular officer. They will call your name again when the consular officer is ready. Questions they asked me were the typical ones: where my fiance and I met, how long from the moment we met online to in person meeting, describe the meeting. What he does for a living, what I plan to do for a living. They basically go though all of your documentation with you. The consular officer did not have our I-134 on hand, even though my fiance sent in per email directly to them. I did have a printed out copy they looked at.
They put us in administrative processing, reason they stated was the need to look into some things further. The visa was issued two days later (Friday), arrived via post (Tuesday).

Additional info:
They give you the option to come pick it up at the embassy yourself or send it via post.
Make sure you have all the documents you sent printed out, it can come in handy.
When you are sending the documents via email, make sure to send them all in one batch, if you can and ask for a confirmation that they received everything.
Keep an eye on any email communication you have with them, if they do not answer, try again, my impression was that emails tend to get lost.

Overall experience was pleasant, the security personnel is incredibly friendly, and they actually made an effort to calm my nerves. The administrative personnel is professional and nice. I do wish they were more on top of their email correspondence.

Good luck and you really don't need to worry as much as you think you need to.

Rating : Good

POE Review: San Francisco
Event Description
Entry Date : 2020-11-08
Embassy Review : The staff at San Francisco was incredibly efficient and nice. I went though secondary, my paperwork as processed really fast, they only asked a few typical questions about my relationship, when we met, what wedding plans we have, and I was let through.

Covid measures were in place on the airport, just be aware and follow them.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
