2/1/2020 - Green card delivered by USPS priority mail.
We arrived 30 minutes early, went through security and got our number. We waited in the room for an hour before we were called. They tell me the San Antonio office stays very busy. We were called back by the agent and went back to her office.
Nataly provided the information, she was sworn in, and the questions started. Not a single question for me, but my wife was asked many questions. SHe had difficulty understanding the questions completely and froze. She even forgot her phone number she was so stunned. No worries, the agent called a phone translator in Russian and had no issues after that on the questions. It was anticlimactic after such a long wait, but it is now finished. Hopefully we have her green card next week and will not need to worry about this process for two years :) |

The process was fairly easy. We had to drive to San Antonio for the interview. We showed up 15 minutes early then went through security. We waited about 90 minutes before being called back with the immigration officer. The interview was for Nataly alone, so I took a seat in the corner. She just asked Nataly some questions and she didn't miss a single one on the citizenship portion. She also asked Nataly to read a question on an ipad in the office and then print the answer. Too easy. Of course, there were all of the other N400 form questions about criminal background, previous military training, etc. as well as that Nataly was willing to defend the country if necessary. She passed with flying colors and we will have an oath ceremony in Austin on May 26th. |

We arrived early like many others. We found the storage in the vans across the street to store her phone and we had all of our documents ready to go. We made our way inside through security and passed through the courtyard. We checked in and waited about 30 minutes before being called up for our documents and fingerprint scan. We were then told to sit for another 30 minutes while we waited - there were three other K1 visa interviews in front of us. The first woman was very nice and even said I would be allowed to be with Nataly during the interview. Once we were called up for the interview, the woman had a very mean demeanor. She told me to sit down and she would let me know if she had any questions of me. She was also very confrontational with my fiancee about our age difference (17 years). However, she was approved and we will make her arrangements to travel once she receives the visa. Overall a good experience and I understand the State Department's job - they are trying to screen out fraud and have only a few minutes to make a decision and spend time looking at the information provided. We were very shocked there were no questions about my children or how we met, etc. Only about our age difference and how we communicated. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
