Event Description

Embassy Review : I had an AOS interview at Manhattan office on 12/14.

I filed AOS October 2019- the whole process took me 1.2 years.

I waited 30 minutes or so after I checked in - staff there were polite except the security guards at the entrance lol.

(Fyi - we are a gay couple)
My husband and I were led to an USCIS officer’s room after waiting about 30 minutes. The officer was female and was polite.

She first checked our IDs and had us seated.

She mentioned that she couldn’t find my medical record - I explained that I had Medical in Japan and it must have been in the yellow envelope I received from the US embassy, but she kept saying “I don’t see it” flicking through my massive pile of applications.

She said I might have to go thorough a medical exam which will cost money and time and I wasn’t happy about it. But there it was my medical record in the files she had - she just hadn’t looked at it carefully.

Anyway interview went quite well - she asked each of is a few questions saying that we should be able to easily answer to if our marriage was bonafide.

[Questions to my husband]
-What’s your spouse’s full legal name?
-Have you met your spouse’s parents?
-What’s your husband’s mother’s name?
-When did your husband enter the US?
-Have you ever traveled outside the US since your husband came to the Us?

[Questions to me]
-What’s your husband’s name?
-What’s your husband’s mother does?
-When did you two marry?
-When’s your husband’s birthday?

Interview was short and sweet - I supposed it took us about 15 minutes.

The officer said she would review our case and it may take up to 120 days but if everything is fine and nothing’s wrong it shouldn’t take that long.

Following day I checked my uscis case number and the status was updated to “New card is being processed”

Hope my review helps you all.
Harassment Level : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
