Consulate Review: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 30, 2019
Embassy Review : At 11 AM, I had to drop off the documents and come back at 1 PM for the interview. They will not let you in before the scheduled times, which was fine and I also knew that.
So when it says that you have your interview at 1 PM, I expected to have my interview at 1 PM. This is not what happened... Around 10-15 people show up at a 1 PM appointment and your name gets called whenever.. They did not start any interviews until 1.30.. Only 2 interview windows open so my 1 PM interview time ended up in being interviewed at 2.30 PM and took about 5 minutes (which I did expect). You can hear all the interviews from other people so do not expect any privacy.

I was pretty well aware about the whole 'window' set up, but them not starting any interview until 1.30 and everybody showing up at the same time was not something that I expected. Waiting 1,5 hours was a big surprise.. So make sure that you do not plan anything else that day because it will take about all day.
The IO was very nice.
Rating : Very Poor

Congratulations. I have a question about documents review timelines. How long it took NVC to review your documents that you submitted online in your CEAC?! I mean the time line between submitting the documents and closing your case before scheduling your interview! 2 weeks or 3 weeks or more?! And is this timeline depends on which country you are originally from even if you are not in ur home country anymore, or depends on the country you are currently resciding in to have your interview ?! Because I'm from SA but living in NL.

It took them 5 days for the initial review. One of my documents was rejected because it was rotated. It took them 3 weeks to review that rejected one. I was lucky that my initial review only took 5 days, please don't use that as a timeline. In general it takes them 3 weeks to review and in case of rejected documents, the clock starts back at 3 weeks again. It depends on a number of factors I think. How much documents (divorce decree, criminal report in case of criminal history etc.), I think your SA nationality will be the basis, not the fact that you are in the NL because you do not have the Dutch nationality.

Aha OK thank you so much. Its been a week for my submitting documents. I hope i get lucky like you only 5 days or at least by the end of next week I get an update from NVC, if not i hope the beginning of the third week. They only asked me for the death certificate, dutch police certificat, Saudi police certificate, passport copy, photograph, and birth certificate copy. The last 2 documents i mentioned above are not availble but i have a copy of my BC and a national ID as a replacement. So i submitted instead of the 2 missing documents declare for each of them and a waiver request for the unobtainable documents so US embassy be notified before i go for the interview. I will keep my fingers crossed.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
