AOS interview is about 20-25 minutes. Interview officer asked to see identification documents such as IDs, passports, birth certificate of the immigrant, etc. Interview officer asked questions about how we met and other simple questions like DOB of the spouse, parent names, where did we get married. Interview officer was interested in seeing wedding album and only looked the first 3 pages. Officer asked if we wanted to add any documents to the file that would show we are married and we provided documents like lease agreements, bills, bank statements, etc. Interview office said that she will most likely approve the case but didn't confirm approval. Status was updated to card in production on USCIS website 4-5 hours after the interview. |

Embassy Review : |
My fiance's (now husband) experience at the Islamabad Embassy was very good! We were somewhat nervous about how the interview would go but the entire process was smooth and easy. According to my fiance the officer who did his interview was nice, friendly, and courteous. My fiance gave his interview in English and his interview was actually quite short. The officer asked him basic questions like how did we meet, family background type questions, shared interests, etc. The interviewer did not ask to look at any pictures or any other documents although my fiance took everything with him. Once the interview was over, the office told my fiance that he was done and as my fiance was getting up to leave the officer said "Congratulations!" My fiance was really surprised at this because the interview was so short. For some time he kept thinking that maybe he imagined what the officer said :D In any case, we think that MAYBE his interview was so short because we front loaded our application with pictures, call logs, chats, and other evidence of on-going relationship. On this note, I wanted to mention that when I was submitting the K1 application, I had conflicting information on whether to submit engagement pictures or not. I just wanted to mention that I did submit 3 engagement pictures in my application along with a few pictures of our family get togethers. Our engagement was quite simple and it was at my fiance's home. I am not saying that others should submit their engagement pictures or not, I am just sharing our experience in case someone else is wondering what to do about this. |

Timeline Comments: 1Good luck! Make sure you have both the original of marriage certificate and Nikka Nama and both translated to English.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
