Embassy Review : |
We waited approximately 21 months from submitting the application to receiving an interview.
The interview was scheduled for 8am, and we were not allowed to arrive more than 15 minutes early. We arrived exactly 15 minutes early, cleared security, checked in, and waited. At 8:45am our number was called and we were taken to a private office by our interviewing officer. She was polite and welcoming. When she realized my husband's English was not fluent, she asked if he would like a translator and wondered why the front desk check-in had not offered the option to us. We waited approximately 5-10 minutes on the phone until a Spanish translator was available and then after checking our identifications she began the interview.
The interview lasted approximately 1 hour, and she asked many questions to each of us including some of the same questions we were already asked during the K-1 visa interview. She referenced the I-485 application throughout the whole interview, and asked questions from there as well. She looked through new additional evidence we provided, kept some to add to her file, and then returned the rest to us. She stated it could take up to 4 months for a decision to be made but that it did not necessarily mean she would take that entire time to make her decision. She gave us a paper stating our case was in review, and told us that it proved we attended the interview so not to lose it as we will need it later. Then she told us we would hear from them.
By the end of the business day at 5pm, we received an update on the USCIS app stating that a New Card Is Being Produced. Approved |

Timeline Comments: 12hi, what did you get an RFE for?
Hi! Not sure yet, just saw the notification. Waiting for the letter to come in the mail this week, but I’m going to call tomorrow to see if they’ll tell me over the phone.
But the good thing is that once you submit your RFE paperwork the approval will be fast
Would you mind sharing what the RFE was for?
No problem! They requested that I send in the passport size photo of myself again.

Hi my name is Venessa my fiance Manuel and I have been waiting for our packet 3 instructions for almost 4 months but I've noticed that almost everyone on here received their packet 3 instructions in a couple of days. I must be missing something can you please explain to me how you received your packet 3 instructions?
Hi! I actually never received a formal "packet 3 instructions". I was able to get my # from NVC over the phone, so once I had that information I just emailed the embassy to request my interview, and attached the signed applicant statement and DS 160 confirmation page. They responded to my email that my case was in the queue and I would be notified once an interview date had been scheduled. Received the interview date 2 weeks later.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
