Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 5, 2019
Embassy Review : Arrived at the Consulate at 6:47 a.m. to wait in line outside and was the second individual. They made two lines, one for the 7:15 a.m. appointments and the 7:30 a.m. appointments. An Officer at the beginning of the line checked for passports, the DS160, and the appointment letter. Walked to a lady with a tablet in her hands that checks for the Biometrics Barcode that they put on the outside of the passport when you get it done. Sat in a sitting area in the front until 7:15 a.m.and then went inside for a security check. After security check, I was taken to the counter where a lady gives a ticket and organizes all your additional paperwork. The ticket contained my number. There's another Indian Officer that takes the organized papers. Waited for an additional 45 minutes for my number to be called. Got to the counter for my interview and had a woman conducting the interview.

Questions asked:
Who "calling" ( means who is petitioning) you?
How did you meet?
When was the last time you were in the U.S.?
How long were you in the U.S.?
When did you move in together?
When did you live together?
Do you have pictures to show me?
Who is this in the picture (pointed to multiple individuals)?
What are you doing here (asked in multiple photos)?

Left for five minutes. Grabbed a white slip and stated approved.

hey! I saw we are around the same time frame of getting the NOA2. I see you have gotten your case assigned to NVC. I have yet to receive a case number assigned. NOA 2 date was February 6 on the notice date. If you could reply here and let me know when the case reaches Mumbai and what the process is like and i will do the same here. Thanks.

Congratulations! Please share the experience here! I wish my fiancee had her interview today as well, but after April 5th only available dates were in May 9th. Congratulations once again!

We never got packet 3 or 4 and ended up not needing them. Everything we need was from ustraveldocs or from the email we received after our case left NVC. Our interview was relatively painless. We had over 200 photos, multiple travel itineraries, months and months worth of call logs, life insurance beneficiary information, auto insurance information, and random bills that we paid on the behalf of the other.

One thing to also note is that the interviewer had to consistently type throughout the entire interview so even though that was a little bit daunting, everything went relatively smooth. Questions were kind of in a sporadic order and she tried to catch me on things multiple times with photos. Otherwise, pretty good. She was kind and it was an easy conversation once you got up there.

Hey! So how long after the approval does it take to get Visa in hand? Also my fiancee medical is April 30th and she has her Biometrics on May7th and Interview May 9th. She's going to to passport office tomorrow to see about the police clearance certificate. Again Congrats on the speedy approval!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
