Embassy Review : |
My appointment was June 18th @ 11:30am. I arrived at 11:15am and showed my DS160 and passport and they sent me through to security which is the same as in an airport. Then you exit through some (extremely heavy) doors and this is where you are meant to find the queues. However they were none existent and i was the only person there! However there are two lanes on the right and one on the left which is specifically for US Citizen Services so when there are queues you can use this left lane to skip it. Once through you will take the elevator to level one. Then left out of the elevator and follow it left around the corner to a smaller waiting area and wait for your number to be called. It took about 40 minutes for my number to be called and I was asked for the following documents: DS160, Passport, Confirmation of payment for the interview, birth certificate, 1 x US passport pic, affidavit of support and letter of employment. I had tons of additional evidence and nothing else was asked for (not even W2s) but far better to have too much than not enough. I was then given my chest X-ray back from my medical and told to sit back down and wait again until my number was called.
The bad part of the experience was that at 12:30 all of the officers except one left the area. I presume to have their lunch break but obviously this slowed down things a huge amount. I wasn’t called again until 2:15pm so almost 3 hours after my appointment. However the interview was extremely easy and very anticlimactic, lasting about 2/3 minutes. He asked me:
Have you ever had a visa or green card before?
How did you meet your fiancé?
Has my fiancé lived in FL his whole life?
What does my fiancé do?
How often do we see each other?
Then he said “well everything seems great here and I am going to go ahead and issue your visaâ€.
My passport was delivered back to me only 6 days after my interview! Overall a brilliant experience, just a little slow! |

Timeline Comments: 1Hi there, congrats on your upcoming interview! Can you share the website that you used to get it scheduled, please? Thank you!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
