Packet 3: I was pro-active and emailed the packet 3 the moment it left NVC. I did not wait till it turned into ready. When it turned into ready online I followed up on my original email. The embassy IV unit responded that they received all packet 3 related information and they are just waiting for the physical file (7/16). I provided them a copy of the waybill tracking that it was signed for by the embassy the week before on Saturday. They provided the initial interview date the same day. It is 2 months out for 9/12, which I assume they did since we have 2 children involved.
I emailed them on 7/16 requesting the interview date to be rescheduled for August 2nd to get the kids in time to the USA for the beginning of the school year and I also confirmed we have everything ready and the medical exam has already started with a completion date of July 30th.
7/26 - embassy called and offered to move the 9/21 appointment to 8/19 to support trying to get the children into the USA in time for the school year.
8/19: interview passed and visa approved verbally. 3 questions: 1) where/how did we meet? 2) where do I live? 3) what do I do for living? Children (K2) also had to be present.
8/23: visa received, one of the packet (wife's) was damaged. We sent it back to the embassy using TNT, got rejected to be received in by security. I flew up the same day to bangkok, got the mail back from TNT and next day had an appointment with the visa unit and they resealed it in 10 minutes. Per my discussion with the lady there, the packet should have been received in from TNT by the embassy security and she submitted a formal complaint to the mail room. This added a lot of stress last minute, but eventually we got the packet resealed and was able to take our original flight. |

Nice old gentleman, very friendly and made it easy for my soon-to-be wife. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
