Point of Entry at Chicago (ORD) was seamless and straightforward. Flew in together from Lagos with my Fiance and went through the CBP immigration check at the same time.
The only question asked was:
When are you guys getting married?
Then received entry stamp in passport for 90 days. |

My Interview Experience.
I got to the Embassy around 5:15am.
A lot of persons were already there waiting.
Security check started around 6am. At this point, the non immigrant were separated from immigrant applicants.
I joined the immigrant queue. We were asked to open the sealed medical envelope. We were also asked to bring out appointment letter, DS 160, evidence of visa payment(GTB receipt) and international passport.
I proceeded to the gate, where I went through another security check. After the check we were asked to sit under a tent where a small slip was handed over to us to Fill. We were asked to write our name, the petitional's name, address, phone number and email address.Â
After filing the form, the Man asked for my international passport, DS 160 and appointment letter. After awhile he returned the passport back to me tagged, and on my appointment letter he wrote number 5.
I proceeded to another gate for another round of security check. After I was done, I was led to the main hall where the interview took place.
When I got to the hall I was asked to wait for my number to be called.
After about 15mins my number was called and I was asked to come to window 21.
There, I met a lady who asked for my international passport, Affidavit of support, medical report, police certificate, photocopy of birth certificate, Appointment letter, DS 160, two passport photo and the slip I filled.
After she collected them, she asked me to go and sit while I waited for my number to be
called.
After about an 1hour my number was called, and I was asked to do fingerprint. After I was done, I was asked to go back and wait for my number to be called for the main interview.
At about 9:10am, my number was called, and I was asked to go to window 18.
When I got there, I met an American lady, who smiled at me, I smiled back and greeted her.
She administered the Oath. After which the interview started.
Questions that I was asked:-
        Who petitioned for you?
       How did U meet?
       His Address.
     His Occupation.
   If he was previously married?
   If he has children?
 Our Wedding plans?
What do we talk about whenever he calls.
Does he stay alone, or he lives with someone.
  Have I ever been married?
 Do I have children?
The questions were coming very fast, she was listening and typing at the same time.
She later asked me for photos. I actually went with a big album, when she saw it, she smiled and asked me to open it and display any of our favorite picture of Us together. She saw a picture I and my Fiance took with his mum, she then asked me where she (the Mum) live. I answered her, and that was the last question she asked me.
She later brought out a white sheet and circled the address of where I will be picking up my passport and the Visa.
At this point she looked up, smiled and told me congratulations your visa is approved. She said I will be notified when the visa is ready which will be about 7days.
I thanked her and left the hall.
The whole lnterview took about 10 minutes...it went by so fast.
My Advice.
      Be calm
Make eye contact with the Consular.
    Be confident when answering questions
Go through reviews. It really helped me a lot because my fiance and I went through a lot of reviews and we practiced a lot of questions and I just must really say that it helped me a lot because I was already familiar with almost all the questions that I was asked.
Above all, Pray to God, and ask for Favour.
Am so excited that the wait is finally over and I can finally spend forever with the love of my life.
I wish you all.. All the very Best

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
