Congratulations!! I just completed my ds-160 but am waiting to pay until my file gets to the nvc. It appears that the doiminican consulate is scheduling appointments within 35 days so this process will likely end in a couple of months for us. Good luck!!

Can you give me some details on the ds-160 form? My fiance is worried about it. Did you use a lawyer either in the US or DR? He wants to use a lawyer down there to fill it out, but I feel the I-129f form will be more difficult than the DS-160. Am I wrong? Oh and to add he has 2 girls so we will be filling out 3 if these.

Hey Jill,
I think the I-129F is more involved than the DS-160. The I-129F application with all the support documents took a couple of weeks to do. The DS-160, with the benefit of all the work done for the I-129F took me about 30 minutes. The DS-160 then allows you to copy your answers for dependent children, so my soon to be step son's took about 10 minutes. In my humble opinion, a lawyer for the DS-160 is a waste of perfectly good pesos. The I-129F is a different story; if you have a lot of proof of your relationship with more than one visit in the last two years, I don't think you need an attorney. I think this site will help you get it done. I didn't hire an attorney and my NOA2 approval just took 115 days. Your call. I hope this helps.
Cheers. Rob.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
